Despite the industries price hiking last 6 months and paying the extra usage over the winter, OFTM are still cheaper than next best by approx 20%.

Bare in mind i was looking to part ways last October but stuck it out and glad i did. Over charging now balanced out and back to paying actual usage approx 50% more than yearly average in the past. So cheaper.

I did a comparison using my neighbour's address instead of mine, but using my exact figures I used when moving back to BG in December. OTM are EXACTLY the same for dual fuel. I'm so glad I moved. I get much better service with BG and my smart meter works again. Happy days.

  • I've had the same experience. I engaged Avro on 6 Dec to switch when I'd learned about OFTM's decision to hike their prices. My bill payment date with OFTM was 28th of the month. They not only took the £122 for December (fine-ish), they also took the same amount for January, before then terminating my DD on 30 Jan. When I contacted them, while they admitted they'd taken an extra payment 'by mistake', they then suggested I contact my bank to make a claim. I suggested it wasn't my bank's fault that they tried to fleece me, so why should they have to get involved. I was then told it would take 14 working days to receive my money (£175 in total). 2 weeks later, I still hadn't been paid, so I rang back. I was then told I should have been told it would be 14 working days from when they processed my final bill, which for whatever reason, still had yet to be done. 3 weeks since that last call, and I've yet to be paid, with an email telling me I should have my money by 12 March. That's over 3 months since I left them!! I think the clue is in the name - they're trying to outfox their customers, by hoping they won't notice/ complain about robbing them of a cheeky extra payment. When people do query, they're clearly trying to bolster their cash flow by holding onto money that is no longer theirs. I suspect because a raft of customers have fled a dodgy (and hopefully sinking) ship. DO NOT USE THEM!

You should have contacted your bank and invoked the direct debit guarantee. That’s what it is there for.

Here you go when OFTM was charging average throughout the year £56 to £61 p/m 3 bed detached. Bottom is winter actual and up to date by 10 days.

    29/06/2018 £33.80 £11.59 £56.38
    27/02/2019 £25.11 £31.32 £67.42
    Elec Gas Total

Bulb coming in sub £82 p/m
  • Finally got a refund from Outfox, well another company using OTM's name. They are still trying to wriggle out of a claim via the Ombudsman, having initially said they have no record of my complaint; they have now moved on to say the claim isn't one the Ombudsman should be dealing with!

I left these cowboys on 14/12/18 and was going to ask for the credit refund after the final bill, but I ended up in hospital just after Xmas. When I got out on the 10/2/19 it was about 7 days before I made contact asking for the refund, they replied on the 20/2/19 saying 10 to 14 days before they would contact me.
It's now more the 14 days so I sent them an email giving them 14 days to refund the credit or I take it to the county court and ask for not only the money,£29.88 but costs and compensation, the big 6 would have issued the refund after the account was closed.
Someone please tell me what money is
  • I never really got affected by the comical brain fart of OFTMs CFO/board (prob some bloke & his Mrs in the back kitchen - well they always said they was a family run business lol) It was the U-Turn emails that got on my what-nots TBH, so my a/c was due to end 29th March, I got latest bill and after doing energy club search I have just today moved onto new a/c duel fuel with Utility Point (and mine is over £130 cheaper than OFM was projecting) what has peed me off is as soon as OFM had been notified via the switch process UP had instigated from their end OFM sent me another email saying we have (surprise suprise) just this very day a new tarrif that would be cheaper than my last projection well having had enough of the 'Hero' site??? they can Zapp' it where the sun don't shine... UP emails seem really clear and profesional, shame OFM did save me money last 18mths but can not be with a Co who appear to be smoking some strong stuff! Peace out!!
  • I switched, submitted readings and my account with my new supplier opened on 26th Feb. I had an email on 6th March from Outfox saying my DD from 4th March was unpaid. When I checked it seems my DD arrangement with them has disappeared when I log into my bank. I didn't cancel it so I'm wondering how it was deleted. I'm sure I'm technically in credit as they have been over billing me but just wondering if they can add extra fees on for "cancelling" the DD.

Another thing is that when I submitted readings to my new supplier they said Outfox had claimed the Gas reading was virtually double the actual reading so I had to send the new supplier a photo of the meter. More sneaky shenanigans?
