At my present stage of life, I rarely feel lonely as in alone or lacking company (often it's quite the opposite and I can get a bit "peopled out"). I do however sometimes feel a bit disconnected, which I guess is a type of loneliness. The thing that helps me is to realise that lots of people feel like that, and it's quite normal. Loneliness and being alone can be stigmatised (especially for young people via social media and the ubiquitous #feeling blessed type posts that are everywhere these days), but its a fairly normal human emotion, and whilst it obviously isn't great to feel that way all the time, it's common to experience it occasionally.
