Car collected today after being stuck at the garage since Friday, they have sorted me with a payment plan which will finish in January 2020. I will then put the same amount away between February and August next year so that when the MOT is due again I have a buffer and hope there are no major repairs.
I have a meeting tomorrow and Wednesday then Thursday I'm taking the kids to the lake so they can swim, have a picnic and an ice cream.
Account is looking dire and it's 3 weeks until pay day, dh is due some money for the website he looks after so that will cover the cost of the car I paid today, Child Benefit is due on 13th I was hoping to put it towards the debt savings but looking unlikely. I need to get my niece a birthday present, she'll be 8 so not too much, I already have a card.
Tax return sent off today, nothing owed but equally I don't seem to be owed my mileage which is strange.
Off to think about how to boost this debt repayment, save money, earn money!

Good morning just popping on before I go to my meeting, last night I had a good think about things and tried to come up with some ideas about this debt malarky. I had a play around with figures...........
My current debt is just a smidge over £11k imagine if I could pay that off by Xmas 2020, ah the calculator came out, that's 17 months (I've included August as my regular payments don't go out until the end of the month) so £645.05 per month - I pay £191.64 per month for the car, that leaves £455.41 - the 2 loans take off approx £140 per month (difficult to work out due to the interest) that leaves £315.41 - I get £137.60 per month child benefit, if I put that towards the debt that would leave £177.81.
£177.81 per month to find/save/earn and throw towards the debt would see us debt free by next Xmas! Interesting:idea:
To be able to achieve this basically we have to be smart, smart about our outgoings, our meal plans, using everything at home, not wasting anything whether that's food, money or anything else. We have to be MSE and actually do this no more messing around and having excuses, we have all the tools to make it happen.
First things first, s-i-l said to said spending money for niece's birthday for their holiday I had a 10 euro note in the drawer left over from dd trip so I'm putting that in the card along with £10 note in my purse earned from coaching last night - sorted!
Right got to get ready to go to my meeting, back later. H x0 -
Hi hi, meeting cancelled today seeing my boss when I go down to Cardiff at the end of the month which saves time and travel for both of us.
Not much happening today apart from need a few groceries and the kids need to find their wetsuits for tomorrow.
Current progress towards this months debt target of £645.05 = £22.50 from coaching and a survey payout, another small payout requested. This will be slow to begin with until the large payments go out later in the month, I'm going to try and send over the child benefit to savings pot for the loan but I still need to get ds birthday sorted. He wants a fish and tank, I have some Argos vouchers that would cover most of the cost of a tank so would just need to pay for the fish. Will talk to dh when he gets home.
*small payment from Prolific so £8.02 added to savings, debt target now £30.52/£645.05

Morning, had a lovely day at the lake yesterday with the kids they really enjoyed it and everyone was shattered.
Today I need to update ynab and tidy up the house a bit as looking like a dump at the minute.
Small survey income added to the savings pot, monthly target is at £33.27/£645.05. I received a cheque yesterday fo dh website work but I'm expecting it not to clear as it has my shorten name on again and the bank haven't been accepting it so I may need to request another one.
Need to chase up dh to contact mobile company as he is due a small refund of £17.65 but that needs to go to the savings, he is being a bit spendy at the minute so need to reign him in!
Not much else happening except that I got 2 free passes for an adventure centre so will book that for next week for the kids.

Doh, I am such a failure! I'm so terrible with money and saying no to things that it all spirals out of control.
We have gone back into out overdraft, I stupidly didn't get rid when I got the loan and now due to spending which I'll outline in a minute we are back to £1300 overdrawn
Some of the spends were for ds birthday, spent loads on the fish tank even though I mainly used vouchers to pay for the tank I forgot abut the accessories and the actual fish. Some spends were for work/business i.e. nearly £100 on the train ticket for next week (I'll get it back but it's still out of this month's budget) and business insurance of just over £80 and another installment to pay next week. I'll pay myself back again obviously and have some new kids starting sessions in September.
I've spent today going through the paperwork box and updating the household budget, it's not pretty but some things will end - payment for car repairs is until January 2020, monthly pet insurance will go as I will pay for the annual amount in October - but there is still a great deal going out. I nearly got a 0% credit card last night to clear the overdraft but I thought better of it as it would just be too tempting, dh would go mad and also it's not addressing the spending problem.
I have moved over the £200 that I was saving towards the loan so down to £1100, it's payday tomorrow and even though I need to get school uniform tomorrow I'm determined to get sorted. I will phone the bank tomorrow and get them to reduce overdraft to £1000 please shout at me, I will also get out the cash for food shop, I don't need any fuel and we have no birthdays until November now.
Looking through my budget I'm going to see what else I can reduce obviously food is a biggy but I have just done a meter reading for elec/gas and reduced my direct debit from £92 to £80 from October, as mentioned pet insurance will be paid in full in October and intials quotes show I can reduce the fee by about half of what I have paid this year!
I still have my expenses to be paid from last month plus I need to submit this months next week. I will try and send everything I can to the account to get rid of it and start saving towards loan again.
Right let's go again, sorry MSE family for letting you down! H x0 -
Just caught up on your diary. You don't have to apologise to your readers for going in to your overdraft. Debt busting is hard and we all have slip ups - that's what make us human. You have a plan of action to rectify the overspend And hopefully it'll be onwards and upwards from here. Keep on going you're doing really well
