I think getting rid of the OD with a loan is good.
I had a friend like your brother & my ex DH had to ask him to leave our house as it was his way or no way. Not so easy with family though sadly.

Morning all, spoke to brother yesterday and sorted everything he is really stressed out about a few things at the moment and he realises he rants so I said I would keep him in check. All sorted about the festival too, apparently he meant that they are late bodies but not meaning that we have to do the same.
Dd is almost ready to go, I got her money and just waiting on a wallet to be delivered today and get her packed lunch. DH is doing the early morning drop off at school 0445 tomorrow, luckily we only live around the corner.
Jobs done today:
Emptied kitchen of sports equipment to take back to club this evening.
1 load of washing out on the line, next load to put on.
Paid myself for work last to days and transferred to loan savings - now £25.55.
Stopped myself from going to buy extra for tea this evening, we have plenty to use up, it might be a mish-mash but it's all good.
Jobs still to do:
Phone council to remove 2 double mattresses.
Lots of ironing
Get ready for club later
Tidy house
Scrub bathroom.
Work emails

Glad our brother came round and that you'd keep in check
Well done on working through your list, you put me to shame.
Hope DD enjoys her trip, where is she off to? x0 -
DD has just messaged getting on the plane, she's off to Barcelona until late Sunday night. She forgot her travel sickness tablets, took the wrong chicken wrap with her but I think she'll be fine!
I did most of the jobs yesterday except the ironing, far too hot to stand there ironing.
DH tax rebate has been paid, we used some for camping mats for the festival and he brought a game then the rest has been moved to savings but keeping off my total so it's not confused. Bank rewards paid so another £18 to loan savings £43.55/£2281, a long way to go but every little bit adds up.
Another relaxed day today just emails and housework, need to get a bit of shopping and dh is off work with a bad knee so will get him some tablets.

Oh Dear! I'm sure DD will be fine
I hope has a lovely time away.
Good use of the tax rebate.
Have a lovely day xx0 -
Hi all checking in after a crazy few weeks with work and holiday, last weekend was the festival and whilst we really enjoyed it and the kids had a good time it was expensive and we wouldn't do again (7 hour drive home was tiring!). We are grateful that my brother got us the tickets and the kids had a good time. We used the tax rebate money to get us by which is fine as we're not going away at Xmas now, especially since s-i-l can't afford it either as she's booked her and daughter a holiday to Tenerife on her credit card!
I've been off this week and it's been lovely to be home and do some jobs around the place and the garden, we brought a few house plants to cheer up the lounge and attic plus started clearing one of the beds in the garden to put in some plants. We did have to get pest control out on Thursday as we had a wasp nest in the wall, need to fill in the gap when it's not raining.
Work will be manic again from Monday but I only have a few meetings that I need to go to and can work around the kids.
Plans and expenses for August:
* Book MOT and service for car, covered by service plan so unless there's anything wrong then shouldn't be anything to pay.
* DS 11th birthday - get a phone for him now he's going up to high school.
* DS new uniform - there is a second hand sale on Monday at a local drop in centre so will have a look there first, he also needs shoes, DD needs new trousers and shoes. I will try and get this with August pay on 25th to eek out the money.
* Update ynab haven't done for a few days
* Paid for home insurance in full today for the next year, manged to get cover half the price of my renewal cheeky barstewards!
* Contact plasterer to get quotes for the next work to be done in bedroom.
* Need to renew insurance for business, and find where I put the bag of cash from the last session!!
Hope everyone enjoyed the good weather this week but I am glad for the rain today, as are my tomatoes.

Afternoon peeps. a nice week so far I've been able to balance work and kids well with the help of my parents for a morning. Next week I do have a meeting 2 1/2 hours away so they will have to go there for the day and I will have a trip down south at the end of the month.
Feel a bit bad that I'm not taking the kids out much but the weather has been appalling and waiting until after the MOT and service tomorrow in case we have anything to pay.
DH paid today so I have done a food shop, had a £5 off voucher which I have transferred to the loan savings, this is now at £106.05 so steadily creeping up.
I've just phoned HMRC about my mileage claim, apparently because I've also registered as a sole-trader all my tax return and expenses for both jobs needs to go on the self-assessment. Need to dig out all the info beugrhh!
Current progress on August plans:
* Book MOT and service for car, covered by service plan so unless there's anything wrong then shouldn't be anything to pay - going in tomorrow morning, fingers crossed it's ok.
* DS 11th birthday - get a phone for him now he's going up to high school - Done got a new phone on a contract for £17 per month.
* DS new uniform - there is a second hand sale on Monday at a local drop in centre so will have a look there first, he also needs shoes, DD needs new trousers and shoes. I will try and get this with August pay on 25th to eek out the money - got 2 pairs of trousers for free from uniform exchange, will get the rest later.
* Update ynab haven't done for a few days - done
* Paid for home insurance in full today for the next year, manged to get cover half the price of my renewal cheeky barstewards!
* Contact plasterer to get quotes for the next work to be done in bedroom - sent a message will ask his Mum to get him to contact me if he hasn't done so soon (she's my friend).
* Need to renew insurance for business, and find where I put the bag of cash from the last session!! - Done but didn't have enough in business account so owed money back.
Best get on with self-assessment then, H x0 -
Well today is not a good day, for the second year in a row the car has failed it's MOT, it needs new front suspension and struts, a new tyre and new brake pads. It's going to cost just over £600, we've managed to spread the cost but I will need to pay £150 on Monday and then 5 months of £90ish. I really feel like crying, every time we start to get ahead the car sets us back. I need the car for work so no option but to keep plodding on and try and save ahead of next year.
Bedroom will take another set back, debt will take another set back, about to finish self assessment (I bet I'll owe something on that too!) thoroughly peed off.
Sigh, H x0 -
