I've been meaning to post this for a while, as it's very easy and most people have the ingredients in. It makes for a quite robust flan too, good for picnics or taking to someone's house. You will have to bear with me on quantities as this is truely one of those concocted things based on what I had in the first time I made it!!
4 rashers bacon, chopped (I use smoked.)
One onion, chopped.
One can peeled plum tomatoes. (Also chopped but I don't buy them that way, drained of excess juice.)
2 eggs
Grated cheese, I use Mature cheddar a good couple of handfuls.
Worcestershire sauce
Pastry case, baked blind
Fry onions and bacon until the onions are soft, add tomatoes and cook on a low light until the excess liquid has gone and the tomatoes are mush. Let cool for a bit then add the beaten eggs and cheese stirring to combine. Add Worcestershire. Dollop into the pastry case and bake at about gas 4 for about half an hour until risen.
It puffs up a lot when cooked, and sinks as it cools. This is good hot or cold and very substantial.
(thanks everyone for your kind wishes I guess I was having a bit of a blue day yesterday, I am back on form today!)0 -

Yategirl ... now come on confess were you really that well behaved :rotfl: Did you really only buy one thing ???;)
Yes!actually spent quite a bit  2 goes on the bouncy castle, guess the weight of the sweets x2, guess the name of the cuddly toy x4, 5x goes on the tombola (won one item), 4x goes on the red stall, 4 strips of the raffle, 2 lucky dips, 2 visits to santa... and then ds's bought some lego and a jigsaw out of their own money... so technically... I bought only one thing for me
ah well.... tis a charity and ds's have benefitted from the preschool
Am a bit of a loose end today... have a roast in the oven and have cleaned the bathroom... can't make cake till the oven is empty... guess I should get it ready though and make use of the heat.....0 -

!!!!!!!!{hugs}}}}} jcr16... forget the house mess.. get dh to give you a hand! more important you rest and have fun with your littlies0 -
This is my first post on this thread but I've been reading it for a while before I decided to open my gob and chip my two pence in lol
I have a donut maker and I love it to bits but I dont ice my donuts I just do them plain and stick a bowl of melted chocolate on the table as a dip and I know its unhealthy but the kids love it
Taurusb you are going to love your ice-cream maker I used to have one of those ones with a freezable bowl. But as my freezer is always crammed to the gills I never had any space to freeze it so I treated myself to one with a built in refridgeration unit and its one of my best buys ever as the kids love the stuff and its really quick and easy to use.
Now I want a dehydrator to play with in the summer when there are plenty of fruits and veg about that are cheap.I couldnt even begin to think about growing my own veg as our garden is full with slides and swings and is strictly the property of my four kids. But I am full of admiration for all of you that do though

:j Whew its been a different day altogether today thankfully!!!
Got up early and by lunchtime had finished all the washing backlog..did my 'Mount Everest' sized pile of ironing this morning so now only have a few bits to do off the airer when they're dried..
This morning I put on the rolls when I got up and while they were going in the Panny I made up some braid dough in the Morphy Richards..
Baked brownies for school for DS3 and a lemon tray bake from the dinnerlady book for the 2 eldest's lunches plus some apple spice muffins
Started the veg for dinner and the boys decided they fancied shepherds pie so was able to prepare that before we headed for Mr T's ...oh my god the queues
DS3 had a total freakout at all the people and had to be sat in the trolley with his coat over his head clutching his strawberries poor little mite..I know now why we never venture into a supermarket with him anymore usually...
Managed to get 2 x strawberries knocked down @£1.48 a punnet plus some Cravendale reduced as it was 'pranged'Total sum for shopping today was £6.73 so running total so far for my experiment is
£47.85p0 -

dee - i know what its like, i never take any of my lads to the supermarket anymore, ds3 cant stand the lighting or the noise, and it makes ds1&2 hyperactive, with all the noise and the people! glad you had a better day today!
i made kethrys bread again, 8 rolls and a loaf! it is really yum!
my dinner was sausage casserole made in SC, and the kids all had bread and butter, slices of cheese and sausage, quiche, hard boiled eggs, donuts with green icing:eek: and cups of tea.
i have been readingu up on dehydrators and wine making today:D i will have all that space in the new pantry, i cant wait to fil it up!!November NSD's - 70
