1,000 Posts Combo Breaker Mortgage-free Glee!
I spent ages reading this thread and tried to post earlier but I lost it.
I've been baking manicly and made the chocolate spread. I'm going to try and make the apple braid soon.
Problem with my bread though is that it doesn't always rise in the bm. Any ideas why? I always use the same ingredients and sometimes it is double the size. I don't get it?
I'll keep plugging away at it though. I'm on a budget this month and have £160 to last me until new year. I have a freezer full of meat so shouldn't need to buy too much stuff this month. I'm menu planned up until the 21st December so hope to not spend much money. I will be making bread instead of buying it and cooking from scratch most evenings.
I plan for each joint/chicken to stretch it to 3 meals. I'll need bread flour and yeast, milk for teas and coffees and may start trying to use up my porridge mountain. The thing which is going to set me back the most is DS's preschool fees at £16.60 per week and fruit and veg.
So, I shall be following this thread with interest and stealing ideas!
I went to the good food show a couple of weeks ago and got masses of cook in sauce for free so I have 10 jars which I can use.
4 of which can be used alone with pasta!
I've got masses of onions in because they were on offer so I need to pull my finger out and blitz them and then freeze them.

    Hi everyone,

I have read through this full post, and im totally inspired.

You are all an inspiration. You have really put me to shame. I have vowed to start and do more cooking and baking. I want to make my own jams, my own bread and cakes, my own burgers, everything, I want to do it all.

I hope you wont mind if I ask you all for advice because im afraid im not the most clued up when it comes to cooking and baking.

Im really excited now, and cant wait to get started, but, first, im going to clear out my cupboards, fridge and freezers.

    Jackie
