Now you have to trust me on this..when the recipe is made up you stand there and look at it and think..this is never going to work :rotfl: I did the first time I made them!

    1 1/2 cups GF flour
    1 tsp xanthan gum
    pinch of salt
    2 tspns gf baking powder

    2 oz pure marg (melted)
    1 cup hand hot water
    1 egg
    2 tsp cold water

    Pre heat oven to 350f,GM4,190c

In a large bowl mix flour,x.gum,b.powder and salt.
In another bowl mix together egg, melted marg and water.
Chuck the wet into the dry and beat well for a minute or two...
By now you have a cross between semolina and wallpaper paste..this is right don't worry!!!
Now take a tablespoon and get a wadge of mix and dollop into the large yorkshire pudding tins *you know the ones with 4 holes..*
Bake for approx 20 mins then faint when they come out looking like real bread rolls :rotfl:

I'm making some tomorrow so will do a picture guide specially for you :D

Yategirl I'll do a pastry one for you too :) see if it helps?

No prob Jamie glad to help out :D
Re the dehydrator I dry most things( including lavender for sachets)Lemon peel for flavouring stuff, fruit puree dries to leather(healthy sweets!),yoghurt dries lovely and chewy,if you whizz the stuff into powder you can make your own soup mix(or hide it in anything..) ;) One of those jars has a mix of courgettes, turnips, etc in it which gets whizzed together then boiled up with water for 'instant soup' :D The mushrooms are divine..chuck them into a casserole and they are beautiful it really intensifies their flavour..
I have a great book by Mary Bell which even tells you haow to make cat and dog treats although I've not had a go at these yet :rotfl:
They retain all their vitamins as you just blanch some and others you do raw so Sammy tell OH its all for your healthy eating kick ;)

You people blow my mind. I've avoided this thread for a while because it looked so long and scary but it kept going so I thought I must be missing out on something so... how many hours later and I realise you are all superwomen, fuelled only by the magic power of your kitchen gadget wishlists!

How do you do it all (and have time for the internet)? Can I be like you when I grow up?
    On a mission.

I spent ages reading this thread and tried to post earlier but I lost it.
I've been baking manicly and made the chocolate spread. I'm going to try and make the apple braid soon.
Problem with my bread though is that it doesn't always rise in the bm. Any ideas why? I always use the same ingredients and sometimes it is double the size. I don't get it?
I'll keep plugging away at it though. I'm on a budget this month and have £160 to last me until new year. I have a freezer full of meat so shouldn't need to buy too much stuff this month. I'm menu planned up until the 21st December so hope to not spend much money. I will be making bread instead of buying it and cooking from scratch most evenings.
I plan for each joint/chicken to stretch it to 3 meals. I'll need bread flour and yeast, milk for teas and coffees and may start trying to use up my porridge mountain. The thing which is going to set me back the most is DS's preschool fees at £16.60 per week and fruit and veg.
So, I shall be following this thread with interest and stealing ideas!
I went to the good food show a couple of weeks ago and got masses of cook in sauce for free so I have 10 jars which I can use.
4 of which can be used alone with pasta!
I've got masses of onions in because they were on offer so I need to pull my finger out and blitz them and then freeze them.
    TTFN, Kaz.

Hi Kaz :D have you seen Kethrys recipe for onion marmalade??To my shame my onions are still in the tights and begging to be transformed into this lol..
    http://kethry.wordpress.com/ Heres her site :D

I have a Dehydrator :) I don't use it as much at the minute but do plan to use it more. Great thing is my son loves layering it up (Ok he gets very moody if it isn't done perfectly!) so he helps with that. I would say dog treats, if you can cope with the smell have a go, yak, they stink when they are drying. Have you got a recipe for the fruit leathers you do D&DD? I tried a plum and pear one I found on this site, wasn't very nice.

Not done anything cooking wise today really, DS1 is off school tomorrow so don't think I will get much done then, his lack of danger awareness makes him a hazard when cooking.

I had a look in TJ Hughes when I was in Sunderland, didn't know there was one there, no sign of mini mixing bowls :( loads of tempting kitchen items but I resisted :) well ok I filled a basket then put it back..... Tins - they had some of those silicone ones in festive shapes in the Lidl magazine, I can't remember when they are/were on.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

:hello: Hi lil_me lol we only have cats here so will stink even more as its made from tuna
Have you tried the yoghurt drops for the boys? They might like them as they come out really sweet and a bit chewy..*can you tell mum just HAS to sample them*:A
Fruit leather I usually use loganberries from the garden as they are really sweet mixed with a few strawberries if I can prise them off his nibs..and a bit of apple to thicken it all up. I literally just soften the fruit slightly in a saucepan mash it together (drain any excess juice) and spread on a piece of clingfilm..*easyleave film from lakelands works well too*and dry till you can peel it off the sheet, then turn over and finsh off..You can dust it in icing sugar afterwards but I don't and you can also use mini cookie cutters to cut shapes out which DS3 loves :D

Thanks D&DD :T- I have a dehydrator I haven't used for a while and a tub of stewed bramly apple in the fridge - apple leathers here we come tomorrow! did some last year with bramleys and they were lush :jkids loved them. If I pull myself together and put some yogurt in to yog overnight I could make some yogurt drops too........Just found this thread (heaven knows how I missed it before ) am going to read it from start to finish tomorrow.

I bought 2 packs of reduced spinach that was in perfect condition last week - wish I'd thought to dry it instead of squeezing it into bags into my overfull freezer. Trouble is my dehydrator has to live in the cupboard because of lack of work top space (oh OK I admit it- also because the worktop space I do have is full of other gadgets I use daily :D) so doesn't get used as much as it should...I'm a great believer in out of sight out of mind, so have it where you can use it.

Would love a donut maker next but DH is getting to the point where he starts to shaake when I say the words "kitchen" and "gadget" in the same sentence!
