Sammy I'm glad to see you're feeling a bit brighter now :D I love the Christmas Parades but sadly can't go now as DS3 really doesn't tolerate them well (noise/crowds) I looove xmas and can't wait to get the house decorated and DS2's birthday is Boxing Day too!!So a busy time for us..

It's so nice to see all the positive comments on here and JCR we're all coming to your house for tea tomorrow :rotfl: Hope you got lots of BOGOFS amongst that little lot ;) If an item I use is on special for 4 weeks I buy 2 each week and that generally then lasts til its on BOGOF again :D (Hence the stockpile of wipes in the cupboard..)

Jen thats a great list plenty of basics, staples and 'broad use' items too well done a brilliant store cupboard :T

lil_me lol sounds like you had fun today are you cleaned up yet?? I always find flour in the weirdest places when the boys have been 'helping'...

Yup all cleaned up, apart from the stupid dishwasher hasn't worked so that's back on and is more waiting to go in, not my day with chuffing appliances. Finding flour in places like - my bra, that was itchy!! Will be my fault as I am the messiest cook, I don't need the boys to make a mess...I keep thinking I should make a Christmas cake, just haven't braved it yet, think I have all the ingredients.

Trying to find out if there is a Netto near me, I can't remember where I last went to one, stupid why don't I have a look on yell.co.uk...saying that it's the can I afford a donut maker at the mo, hmm, maybe wait see if I get some Xmas money.

Chicken still icey, there is a defrost function on the cooker but I don't want to use it if I don't have to. I'm going to attempt to roast it tomorrow in a roasting bag as I found some in the drawer, wonder when I bought them, only done parts of chicken (I wimp out of cooking a full one and pull them apart) or cooked it in the slow cooker lately, must be 5 or so years since I last cooked one in the oven so that will be a challenge in itself.

Next to decide what to cook with it, got lots of carrots, might try and brave HM roasties, last ones weren't very good think I need a different method.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Morning all

Well i had decided to have a productive morning but instead i gave up and figured id rest before work today (7 hour shift on a sunday - joy) thank god its tippign it down though so everyone well most people hide away.

Anywho - ive decided that using things that are lurking in my cupboard tomorrow i will
    • make bread
    • make rolls
    • iced buns!!
    • possibly an apple braid (fruit braid) of some sorts depending if there is any fruit discounted later
    • make the whip up
    • possibly make mini trifles using up the jelly, custard and dream topping
    • bake some cupcakes (benji has been nagging me)
    • twinks hobnobs cos the oats and golden syrup need using.
Also found out last night our engine didnt sell as it was the wrong one (doh!) so we have to make it to Friday with what little money we actually have and i know we need milk and potatoes so need to spend on them which means will have to do rolls tomorrow for bfs to have for lunches at work (fingers crossed Kethrys soft roll technique works!) and then can get that done.
Can you tell tomorrow is my baking day! lol

Plus i figure in order to keep me away form the shops ill spend tomorrow cleaning the place before christmas and actually see if i have the slightest glimmer of a cleaning gene. So tomorrow I have decided to get that the Main task for the day is im hoping that i can get a wradrobe assembled. Its been in pieces in my room for about 2 weeks now and its startign to bug me!!! Thing is it was given to us, not sure i can find the back, and there were no screws so im hoping it will just slot together.

Other jobs for later will include

    the bathroom cleaned (small job)
    the toilet cleaned (small job)
    the hallway cleaned (smallish job)
    kitchen (reasonably quick job)
    living room just tidied (sp?)
tidy our room (picking up clothes mainly)
tidy bens room (picking up toys mainly)

Hoping i can get them all done now. Ill let you know how i go!!!
    Time to find me again

    3 dozen sponge cake buns
    12 madelines
    1 huge pizza
    2 gingerbreads
D&DD's carrot cake ( it looks fantastic by the way.)
OH made a huge pan of scotch broth.
i have menu planned for the next 3 weeks
and ordered the good granny cookbook and those french bread things from amazon.
Now im off to browse on here and watch last nights casualty

  • not sure if i can make the brownies unless i can find a dairy free alternative to the chocolate????
Have you seen Kinnerton's luxury dark chocolate ?-Sainsbury and Waitrose stock it (it's on offer at Waitrose this week). It is dairy free, soya free, egg free and nut free. Scroll down the page to find it -it's in a dark brown packet ;)

OMG , never ever ever am i going to order such a big tesco shop again.

it arrived at half 11. and so far i've put half away. i'm running out of space fast. had to stop for lunch tho as my daughter said ' please feed me mum i'm dying , lol'.

so we have had crackers and cheese. it was gorgeous.

i am getting lots of meals and ideas running through my head as i'm putting food away. also got lot's of bit's to put away for xmas.

i'l be back on later to get lots of idea's. for now i need a cuppa tho , before i even look at the rest of shopping to go away.

having said that tho, if my plan works to plan, this size shop will never get done again , as i'll never get this low on anything.

    Hi all

Just found this thread and spent ages reading from start to finish.. it's really inspirational! I am so glad my food hoarding isn't just a me thing! I am also glad that I am not the only one missing the tidy gene.....

Going to try the apple braid now, please keep up the thread, I love it!
  • Hi
Great thread, I do run a larder system, but not anything a big as D&DD's I just always have one opened & one spare of things I use, as I usually only cook for 2 of us, this is sufficient.
I love to read about all the baking you do, I love to bake, but do very little now all the kids have left home, when I do get the urge to bake the people at work all benefit.

    Evening all,

Pizza type braid went down a treat yesterday! Banana loaf was gorgeous too :j

At the moment I have a HM chicken & potato pie in the oven. Before reading OS I would have just thrown the extra pastry away, but not now! I made 6 jam tarts with what was left over :D
