  • Hi All,

Am feelign slightly better this afternoon, was a bit low and miserable this morning and had in general had enough after the bloody letter that landed on teh doorstep yesterday.

Anyway i had a measly £1.52 to my name and felt really low, then went and checked bank accounts and found i have £8 in one and £5 in the other so decided to go into town with Benji and get a few bits and pieces. Gto to town, got money out and was trapsing along and thought why is there barriers all over the bleeding place and then like a bolt form the blue remembered - its the father christmas parade today!!

So nipped in tesco (had taken in my £14.50 of vouchers incase i needed them), picked up a bag of rolls, cheap pack of ham, some cheap cartons of juice and two bags of cheap crisps and along with my 'free 4pack of nestle buttons' voucher got soem buttons and me and Benji sat and watched the parade whcih he loved and it was good fun, we were dancing to the entertainment they had.

Anyway went back into Tesco and grabbed toilet rolls (we had none), washing up liquid (again none), some chicken soup sachets and a bottle of ketchup (total about £3 ish) and came home, we had a good practically free day out which benji loved, got us both out of the house.

Anyway ive come home and decided it looks empty in my cupboards (its not but because theres no snack stuff in it looks it to me) so decided to check my back up boxes that i have and found the following
    • 3 tins of spaghetti
    • 2 maltloafs
    • 2 sachets fo chicken noodle soup
    • 1 box of Jaffa cakes
    • 2 curry sauces
    • 1 bag of bread flour
    • 4 packets of yeast
    • 6 packets of strawberry/raspberry jelly
    • 1 unopened box of yeast
    • box of icing sugar
    • 3 tins of beans
    • 1 tin of sweetcorn
    • 1 tin of custard
    • 1 tin of rice pudding
    • 3 pasta sauces (one creamy stir in, one pasta bake (homepride) and one basic sauce
    • 1kg rice
    • 3kg pasta
    • 1 jar of lemon curd
    • 1 bar of baking chocolate
    • 1 packet strawberry whip
then found half a bag of porridge oats on top of the cupboard and a spare box of tea bags!

    good day!
    Time to find me again

We live just on the outskirts of Paderborn. have lived here for a year on the 29th! I love it in germany - the food is sooo much cheaper here and you can go for a drive and pop in to little small holdings and buy eggs, fruit, veg and honey really cheaply.

We have a huge naafi in sennelager but it's a rip off now. They do stock a lot of Mr T's stuff but their prices are extortionate. Hubby did all the monthly shop there when i was in the hospital in october and we were overdrawn at the time, he bought so much that we were worse off by the end of the month.

But we had a bit of a windfall - he got some money he was due for being on a course and on exercise. That paid the overdraft off. And then he got his transfer bonus (he transferred to a trade that's undermanned!) and got that paid in last week.

Just as well cos my tumble drier is just about packing up! So we can get a new one and stock up and not worry so much. My problem is resisting all the goodies in the german supermarkets. They sell just about everything and it's really hard not to buy loads of stuff that we don't need when we are out - but starting to be a bit better.

I was naughty today and had my eyebrows waxed and my nails done. Cost me 51 euros (about £35 or so) but we have the christmas function next week and my nails were disgusting and my eyebrows were more like bushes! Might jsut keep it up in the new year if I can get hubby's spending in check! His problem is when he goes away he gets my bank card where my disability money gets paid in. He went on a 6 week exercise and spent £600 on nothing! So trying to get him to curb his nasty habits.

But am definitely going to start making my own breads and jams and stuff - much cheaper and the kids might just stop being so fussy. My DD1 is not bad - 5 years old and average in every way but DD2 is another story - she is 3 and still in clothes for a 2 year old, and weighs half of what my mate's 2 year old weighs. She is under the pediatrics here to see if she has growth problems (she eats like a horse and has endless energy). But she is picky and my mate makes her own bread (all kinds) and she loves it!

If anyone has any recipes for home made breads of all kinds I would really appreciate it - want to be able to make all different kinds for the kids to give them a bit of variety and maybe get some practice at baking (I'm pants at baking jsut now so need to knuckle down and learn). Although I have no Idea how I'm gonna manage with these blooming nails lol!

Kethry thanks for taking the time to post that, will give it a try :D

Well bit of a disaster today, boys decided they wanted to cook, so we trawled through some recipe books, many from my food processor one then went shopping, never again in one of the busiest ASDAs with 2 boys with 'issues' it took us over an hour just in the shop as they kept disappearing. Anyway gets home and starts, did double the sponge recipe in the processor then switched it on, NOTHING, :( must have died when we moved :( tried everything and couldn't get it to work so scraped the stuff out and went for it by hand. That became a sultana cake, tried a new cookie recipe which refused to work with the biscuit maker thing but made great flat ones, made some currant muffins which we haven't tried yet. Found a bag full of currants and 3 bags of sultanas you see so was trying to use some up.

Well now the kitchen looks lke a bomb site, me and the boys are covered in just about everything, but was fun....will have to clean it up in a mo :(
One day I might be more organised...........

i used to have full cupboards etc but for the last few years shopping and cooking has been a bit hit or miss.
you have inspired me to take this up again.
    thanks so much

    Tescos :) is Mr Ts

Panny - Panasonic breadmaker (like posh people have :p)

Posted my weeks meal plan, does look a little bland but lacking imagination at the mo. Might come up with something more interesting with each main closer to the time. Just hoping the chicken defrosts ready for tomorrow :o I need to pop to the shop tomorrow too, forgot DS1s yoghurt today.

I'm a slow starter with all this but aim to be loads better next year.

But today, I noticed I had 5 Bananas ready to be thrown so insprired by this thread and others have a large Banana loaf baking in the oven, which means that seriously fussy DS (5) will actally eat something fairly wholesome for a change. :D

  • Hiya,
Wow! have spent this afternoon reading this thread and I'm completely in awe.

It's truly inspired me thank you so much.

Also gonna have to look up flylady and see if I can find a tidying gene

Netto's had the donut makers in last week at 9.99...might be worth a look to see if they still have them for anyone wanting one.
I got a pie maker (impulse buy) so gonna have to learn how to make pastry now! ;)
