and dont forget you can freeze the onions, just slice and freeze them but wrap them well so you dont get a smell! and someone posted that they caramelise loads of onions in the oven at once (because its a long job) and freeze them in portions to use in soups, casseroles etc.

If you do it on the normal or dough don't use as much yeast as it will overrise.

I guess it would be better to do on normal programme and use less yeasst then?

Hi all,

I've only just found this thread...wow! There are so many recipes and ideas on here. I've only read pages 100-111 at the moment, so will start from the beginning soon and catch up with the earlier posts.

I did a search and found D&DD's apple braid recipe in post 42. It sounds yummy and I really want to give it a try but I don't have a BM :-(

Has anyone made it without a BM (I've got a hand mixer with a dough hook - that I've never used! - if that's any good?). Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but I did a quick search of the thread and haven't found it (and haven't had time to read the whole thread yet!).
