This is brilliant, thanks! Can I ask for a bit more detail re washing the butter under cold water, how do you do this bit please? ;)

I leave my butter in the mixing bowl and just run the cold tap over it. I just give it a bit of a knead. Tip the water out and do it again. It probably takes around 20 seconds in all. As the water is cold the butter stays altogether like a piece of dough.

Then just squeeze and flatten it between the kitchen roll or clan tea towel to make sure its dry. If you want to add salt you sprinkle some on now and either just mush it in or I put it back in the mixer for a blast.

Dee - noticed you are on - Is the amount for the apple braids enough for 2? Dough making cycle about to finish any minute.

Prepared all my bits for it - sitting by window waiting for my Tesco shop to arrive - they have just phoned to say van broke down.....( have been really good and have kept out of shop all week and just added to my list online - so no cereal left , milk, grapes etc etc

Guess what we are having for breakfast now..

Hi Amanda what amount did you make the one with 1 egg or 2 ?
You can get 2 reasonable size ones out of the 1 egg recipe or two huge ones out of the 2 egg recipe :)
