    Hi all

Wondering if you can help. Have just finished my last packet of the uncle ben's micro rice (I buy them when on offer and its a great quickie for when I come in from work at night:o ). However I anm determined not to buy anymore as a) for what it is its expensive - even on offer b) I am sure I can make just as good from scratch without all the preservatves, additives etc and c) I have loads of normal long grain rice in the cupboard.

What I was wondering was could I batch cook some savoury rice and then freeze it in portions to micro on days when I am working. And if so does anyone have any good savoury rice recipies that would freeze well???

Have started my inventory of all the stuff I have in my cupboards and then later on in the week I will start raking through my freezers and see what is lurking in their.

Am determined not to overspend my grocery budget, to use up some of the food thats been in the freezers a while and to make some wholesome recipies.

    Hi Maisie M,
I saute a chopped onion in a teaspoon of oil (slowly so it doesn't burn) and add your fave curry powder then some raisins or peas and sweetcorn ( whatever takes your fancy:D ) Then add easy cook rice and water at a rate of one rice to two water, a teaspoon of veg or chicken stock, stir through, bring to the boil reduce to a simmer, cover and cook for approx 20mins til all the water has gone. I bag it into plastic bags which can be frozen and then boiled and voila ready done rice:rotfl:

Can't sleep so thought I'd nip in while all is quiet shhhh :D
Been painting today rather than cooking in readiness for the new arrival Thursday :j Bit of a bummer today when the microwave arrived...dented to high heaven.(It had been dropped on its corner)I threw the other one out this morning too
Now have to wait for a return label from Currys...then a pick up from DH Hell...then they have to check it...then issue a new one  Bit miffed told them not to wreck the cooker too !!

My kitchen however is looking rather smart especially as I managed to paint it before OH came home to 'help' :rotfl:
Roll on Thursday so I can start experimenting!!!

PS Thanks so much for all the slowcooker tips chicken was demolished in record time so I'd say it was a hit :D

    Hi all

Hope you are all well today! Okay - was playing with the kids at the weekend. I have a downright hatred of feet - cant stand them! And whiel mucking about my lovely hubby stuck his foot right in my face! So I went to playfully punch his leg away and caught my hand right off the bone in his leg!

I ended up in the med centre 'cos we thought I had broken my hand! It was all swollen up and I couldn't move 2 of my fingers! But it was just a nasty bruise. So after 2 days with a strapped up hand, I'm back to normal - just a little tiny bruise on one finger!:D

Will teach me to play-fight - I always lose lol:confused:

am sure I have read somewhere that someone does make dairy-free yoghurt like that.. but I can't find the info. Worth a try I reckon :)

I drained a tin of fruit this morning for our yoghurt and am left with the "light syrup" - what can I do with it? Can't bring myself to throw it out - I have paid for that!

about 200-220 for about 20-25 mins. I bake mine on a baking tray and then take them off the tray and finish on the rack in the oven otherwise I find the bottom of the rolls can be doughy (which happened with some of my pretend hotcross buns yesterday as I forgot  )
