D&DD, when we had our old slowcooker (it died a death, we now have a Tefal 4-in-1 jobbie) and cooked our chicken, it was white :)

Having a rotten day today as everything flipping depends on the car, I have loads to do though so am not going to let it get to me much, I'm going to try and blag a lift to work for the next few days.

So Yategirl, you're not alone in feeling rotten today, am sending you hugs!

I store lots of stuff under the stairs on shelves so I am quite lucky that way.

A friend of mine has very little storage in her house but she has an easily removable bath panel where she stores lots of toiletries and tins that do not mind steamy conditions. It made me laugh when I first heard! But it comes in handy

I've just had new kitchen which, even though fab, marvellous, spacious etc STILL doesn't have enough room to keep all my kitchen stuff in, I kept worrying there wouldn't be, but people just laughed!

I used to keep my large collection of baking tins behind the plinths (at the bottom of the units) which was in nice short pieces to remove easily. Only prob was I couldn't remember what I had put where. The plinths in the new kitchen are too long and cumbersome for that.

Trying to do what the original poster did and run down some of my 'supplies', but not easy, I get my delicious malted bread flour from a mill in 16kg bags, takes some storing!

My IL's have "doors" as a bath panel so that they can store cleaning stuff and toiletries underneath - I think it is a brilliant idea... unfortunatley our bath is "shaped" so we can't do that(!) But we did leave our kitchen plinths loose and I store cartons of milk or juice or bottle of oil etc under the cupboards, plus I have a box underanother one with my dishcloths, bird food under another one and my gymball (which I really ought to get rid of as it has been there untouched for 2 years :o ) under another one.

PI - where do you get your large sacks of bread flour from?

    Hi

I used to get my breadflour, various blends from Claybrooke Mill, who did mail order. I had a lot of hassle, cos I refused to order less than the max amount that would come in a parcel, shared with friends, had all the hassle of collecting money and delivering it round,Really didn't work. What I like was their blends for breadmaking, with different seeds and flours.

Unlike 'granary -is a regd. trade mark LOL!- their flours don't have hard 'bits' in, only seeds and things that are crunchy, but don't break your teeth.

After a while I realised that it couldn't be that difficult, blended wholemeal and white and added my own seeds. Still not satisfied, as the malted flour was missing. Went out with my family (SIL lives in E Yorkshire) and popped in at the garden centre. Mum collected her bag of wholemeal and I saw there was a malted flour. Been hooked ever since. WHen I get down to the last however much someone gets me a bag. Then Mum and dad bring it when they come. A 16kg bag costs less than £9. It's really good and I put seeds in or not, depending on what I have. I can't remember the name... something like Bradburns at Driffield.

ooooh! I love pot roasted brisket of beef. Leftovers can either be made into a cottage pie or sliced up for sandwiches.

only thing that leaps out at me really is the pastry, turkey, ham = a pie!!

mince - spag bol, shepherds pie, lasagne, savoury mince?

sausages - sausage toad, sausage casserole, sausage and onions, bangers, mash and beans, cowboy hotpot

inventive thing with bacon? quiche, egg and bacon pie, maybe do chicken breast wrapped in bacon?

haggis, neeps and tatties - its Burns Night soon, yum!!!

and I second the pot roast with shepherds pie or rissoles from leftovers :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
