I'm still around and reading.........just not making that much money.
£4.50 tips to add from yesterday.
I'm going to be a bit bah humbug now.;)
This time next week it will all be over :T I just find the whole thing a bit over the top with all the spending that happens.
I'm quite lucky in that my OH takes over cooking the Christmas dinner but that also means he does the shopping for it and no expense is spared!! I try not to put a dampner on it and look forward to the New Year.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -

I don't buy into the materialistic side of it all where people spend hundreds of pounds on presents... all seems a bit of a waste of money and clutters up the house. I just buy the few odd gifts where I know people want them. I didn't buy my dad anything for years as he didn't want anything so there was just no point - he would rather get nothing than something he didn't want. On the other side I suggest things that I want / will probably buy for myself anyway and then I get what I want and ask the other person what they want (although not always as I diligently listen throughout the year so I know..).
I don't think everyone goes crazy - I don't know anyone that does. TV and advertisers just want you to think everyone else does to make you spend more. I was reading something the other day about it and apparently it is all the Victorian's fault - they were the first to realise the earlier they can start doing shop windows and getting Xmas stuff out, the more money they can make.2024 decluttering: 12,169 ⭐️🥉⭐️🏅🏅🥈⭐️🏅🥇🏅⭐️🏅🏅⭐️⭐️🏅👑💎⭐️

We don't spend a lot at Christmas, in fact this year is the first that my wife and I have agreed not to buy each other anything. I never want/need anything anyway so it would just be a waste of money. I'm not going to be a complete scrooge, and I'll probably get moaned at for buying her something but I know she desperately needs some new PJ's, and I've noticed she's running low on bath stuff - I don't mind when I know it's things that will get used.
We've spent a bit on our 3 yr old, haven't gone daft, but it's the first Christmas where she really knows whats happening. Her first proper experience of believing in Santa...it's a magical time for kids. We bought a 2nd hand bike off Facebook and have replaced the handlebar grips, bell, peeled off all the old stickers and replaced with some we'd used on her first balance bike. It's cost £25 in total. A fraction of what a new bike would've cost. We haven't bought anything really for the 3 month old - just a small gift from his sister, and also something to go in his stocking from Santa so the 3 yr old doesn't find it strange, or think Santa has forgotten about him. We bought a bundle of clothes off Facebook for him for £5, so a few of those have been wrapped up to bulk his stocking out a bit.

See to me.........this is what Christmas is all about. I think thats why I dont enjoy it so much these days. My own children are grown up and no sign of any grand children for a long while. We have younger nieces and nephews who we buy for but they live away so dont really see much of them.
I think its the commercialism I hate so much along with a month of listening to Xmas tunes on a loop at work.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -

I know what you mean. I do love Christmas, being a Christian I should :rotfl:but it is much more fun when you have small children. I have to say that due to various circumstances last year wasn't very nice and this year looks like going the same way! No decorations up, no cards sent and up till yesterday I hadn't bought any presents.
Good job I don't have small children really :rotfl:£10 a day April - £4/£3002014 £110.92 2015 £3732.30 2016 £1633.66 2017 £2991.70 2018 £3255.40
