Oh Cranky, what a rollercoaster. I can't imagine what you are going through but glad there's someone out there with some common sense.

Difficult day for you dumpling but you've been brave and supportive to Becky. Sounds like she will get the help she needs and deserves.

Dumpling I am not surprised Becky walked out of the meeting but I do hope that the meeting helps her get the treatment she needs. Big (((hugs))) to you, you are going through so much and I feel for you xx

Cranky I am still lost for words about a/the Doctor using scare tactics on your dad's girlfriend. That is surely against all medical ethics and I am so heartened that the Doctor you spoke with today took the time to speak to both you and the girlfriend to establish his family's true wishes. I can not begin to imagine why a Doctor would inflict such a procedure on a man who has already suffered enough.
My heart goes out to you all. x

One thing it has shown is how the support on here and on the OS board in general, can help individuals solve problems that may have felt too overwhelming alone.

So on that note I'd like to say, thank you all for being so lovely, wonderful and caring :A x

Dad will now have antibiotics and all other treatments withdrawn (he's not eating) and will be pain medicated and made comfortable. They mentioned fast tracking him to a nursing home but I'm not sure if he'll get that far.

Hang on. This morning the doctor said your Dad was well enough for surgery....Now they are withdrawing all treatments including antibiotics. Wish they would make their mind up.

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

I've just got back from the hospital and I am freezing. The traffic wasn't too bad but it still took nearly 2 hours to get home. The meeting was very informative but Becky didn't cope well with listening to everyone talking about her so she left after 10 minutes or so. Her psychiatrist thinks she has autism with psychotic symptoms. They are going to start the assessment while she is in hospital. It was very hard to listen to the staff talking about how poorly she is but on the positive side she is very settled on the ward and still feels happy and safe there. It is her birthday on the 4th December so she will be allowed home on leave so we can celebrate with her.

I have been catching up with everyone else's news on here. I was shocked to hear about what was planned for Cranky's dad. So glad common sense and compassion have triumphed.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell nannywindow and dp1. Hope you both soon make a speedy recovery xx
Judi, I have asked to be cremated and put into a firework when the time comes. In reality I don't really care if I am stuffed in a bin bag and chucked on the tip :rotfl:.
Hope the banana gazing was exciting Nelski, you made me smile this morning so thank you xx
Thinking of you Gers after your frightening experience. Hopeyou are not in too much pain today xx

Hugs are available in abundance so feel free to grab as many as you want. Take care everyone xxx
I'm glad that the meeting was informative and although it was really hard for you to listen to the staff talking about how poorly Becky is it is good that you are being kept fully up to date and included in planning her care.

It's good that she will be coming home for her birthday, at least you can all celebrate with her.

Take care of yourself as well xx
