Thank you whiteguineapig but unfortunately not as we are currentlying in a rented hovel. OH has come down and fixed it, he bled the radiators yesterday and the system needed topping up with water, I need to find out what this means and how to do it.
Hands now thawing. I'm not having a shower for a bit though, it needs to warm up in there first as it really is cold in there, but should be ok soon.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone,
It feels much colder today and the heating has clicked in, beautiful sunrise though. We have just enjoyed dippy eggs and toast.
Another restless night but do feel a little less sore this morning, I am going over to see Lulu today but don't feel up to riding just yet, just hope it hasn't knocked my confidence about going out, time will tell.
Will certainly send all positive thoughts re your Dad Cranky its awful that the authorities are going to put him through that.
Hope today's meeting is positive Dumpling
Ouch re your knee Holly hopefully the tablets will soon kick in and ease it somewhat.
Gers hope you are not too bad this morning.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
The bliss of having a day off is amazing ! I had an hours lie in this morning and do feel better for it, probably wont fit a nana nap in this afternoon as I shall be helping OH do a bit more in the kitchen, he put most of the cabinet carcass together yesterday too, today will be making up drawers and fitting the cabinets to the walls, hopefully the cooker can go in too, although it might not be 'plumed in' We have gone for mostly drawers in this kitchen (big pull out ones) as its easier to pull them out to find something rather than get on your knees and find something at the back of a cupboard.
Its my dd's birthday today she is 23  cant believe where the time has gone !! so its her choice of takeaway tonight (which is good as we have no cooking facilities :rotfl:
I ordered the worktop and fridge last night which should be coming tomorrow / Thursday.
AOD we had a problem with mould in this house and we had an 'expert' round to help us, he advised heating on as soon as it gets cold (just on a low) and turn it up if you need to, also windows open a crack during the day, I must say it has helped our problem, I thought I was being economical with the gas but I was only causing further problems down the line xx
Gers I do hope you are ok ? Did the taxi pull out of a side road straight onto you ? big hugs my lovely xx
Cranky I will think of your dear dad today, I watched my darling dad suffer with dementia and have no quality of life at all, to take your dads leg off is ridiculous, how will that help him ! is there anyone else you can complain to ? is he in a hospital ? or a home ? xxx
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Cold and dull here. Most of the night there was a huge bright moon in the sky until the clouds came over.
I’ve not got any real side effects from the collision. The side of my head is very tender still from banging against the door frame. No headache though, I’ve been fortunate that I was driving so slowly really.
Anyway, all the stuff which needed to be done immediately has been done. Insurance company, legal firm, body shop and car hire staff all did their jobs very efficiently so far.
I haven’t told my DM as her anxiety levels would go off the scale, it’s bad enough day to day. I’m back with her on Thursday so will tell her then when she can see that I’m ‘whole’.
Today I’ve got two hours of teaching today, I’m looking forward to the warm college! Yesterday I had the woodburner on all day.
Dumpling - I hope your meeting is worthwhile, things will turn out good.
Cranky - I really hope that common sense gets chucked into the mix for your poor Dad. Can you get PALs involved?
Redruby - yes, he was coming out of a T junction straight into me. Happily I’ve got dash cam footage of it.
Happy Tuesday to everyone.0 -
In other news, some plonker doctor in London is trying to save the life of my Dad by amputating his leg. We were asked for permission then told he was going to do it anyway to save Dad's life. The thing here is we're not so sure what exactly he's trying to save. Dad has advanced vascular dementia from the last time some pillock ignored his DNR and spent longer than they should have trying to resuscitate him. Whilst we appreciate the sentiment and the effort made they left a man in his seventies with absolutely no quality of life and/or dignity. Now they're going to top it with a few weeks of agonising pain. It's a good job I'm nowhere near his hospital - I'd be banned. If you could do one thing for me today, please spare a thought for my Dad and hope that he's either not well enough for the op or he doesn't make it out the other end. Not your usual thing I know but for a man whose hobby used to be walking the coastline of Britain this is awful. Incidentally, all three of us (me, my sister and dad's girlfriend) are in agreement that this operation should not take place. Objection over ruled apparently.
Take care all of you
Oh Cranky that is dreadful. Why o why are they using precious NHS resources to perform an operation against the wishes of the patient and his family. I really do despair at times and I will be keeping my thoughts firmly in hope your dad passes away peacefully before they perform the op. My sympathy and thoughts are with you all xx'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to Gers, Lainey, Holly, Dumpling, Cranky and anyone else in need.
I've dropped hubby at work and come home for breakfast, porridge, I'm having tomatoes on toast for lunch a liver and onions tonight, with mash, all very cheap meals.
I'm babysitting this afternoon and I may clean a boat today, or I may leave it until tomorrow and get on with some online selling I need to do today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Its Brr..... out, we have had a frost, hope it eases before 10am I am taking my neighbour into Leicester. OH is staying here, he is not going out into the garden 'in case he falls' whilst I am out.
Cranky.......I am afraid I would be on to the powers that be at the hospital and report the Dr. for going against yours and your families wishes, that is more than a disgrace. Your dad has no quality of life as it is, so why put you all through any further suffering, it is a disgrace.
Bed linen about to go on the line, the forecast is for it to be fine till after lunch, so might as well get some fresh air into it even if it does not fully dry. The sun is just breaking through, so with a bit of luck my car will not need defrosting.0 -
Morning all,
Firstly, Gers, I hope you're doing ok today. I was in a nasty crash and the whiplash didn't kick in until the next day. I'm glad things have been eased by a smooth service - and so it should be, it's their jobs I suppose. Is the car a write off? Looks to me to have damage on the B Pillar which is never a good sign.
For me, yesterday was less eventful. Finished some xmas shopping and visited my step-sister-in-law. They are all going to South Korea in February for the forseeable future (I've been told 10 or so years) so I'll miss them all dearly.
After a few big weekends, I'm now going to crawl into a cave and never spend again. Easy to say - especially with Xmas approaching.
HH - Hope you're knee is on the mend soon.
Karcher - I agree with Cranky. Thinking of you today.0 -
RR it is just the bathroom that gets the mould, there are problems with damp in other rooms but no mould. I do keep it ventilated.I think that there may be s problem with the way the outbuildings were converted for a bathroom, the worst is, oddly, on a party wall.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Cranky this is so awful. Had something similar with DH. He is in his 80's and has dementia. They wanted to send him to a London hospital for several rounds of treatment. Would have involved hours of travelling, treatment, trying to get him home after sedation. He gets so confused. Doctor wouldn't listen but PALS were wonderful. Scan has shown things haven't changed in the past 18 months so I think the right decision was made to let him live life the best he can.
Maybe worth having word with PALs.
My thoughts are with you and your familyIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0
