Afternoon all
Well my health went downhill after I hurt my wrist, as on Sunday afternoon I was in agony with pain in my back. I couldn't sit, stand or lie down for more than 5 mins at a time, I did try reading along but was only able to skim read I'm afraid.
Anyway I seem to be on the mend, fingers crossed, but blumming heck I was only absent for a couple of days and everyone's gone Pete Tong ! From car crashes to falling down, whether on a horse or off, to fraud and medical problems . I hope everyone is on the mend now or at least being sorted out. Hugs to all of you in bucket loads.
I managed to get out this morning for a loaf of bread and some fresh air as the sun was out. It was a strange day as you needed a hat, scarf and gloves for the cold and biting wind, coupled with some sunglasses because the sun was so strong. So I'm now parked on the sofa with my feet up in front of the fire and the house work has been put on the back burner for a few days. There is nothing that won't wait anyway.
Tea tonight will be leftover chicken from Sunday, with rice and a curry sauce and I have to ring Dad later to make sure he's ok too, as his rheumatoid arthritis has also flared up. He did ring on Monday morning to see if I was better but I was still in bed and being waited on by Mr Fix It.
OK enough waffling, I'm going to ring for the waiter to bring me another coffee :rotfl:.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Cranky that is beyond atrocious. Good grief, we treat our darling animals better that that! Is it wrong of me to hope the Gentleman with the Scythe comes along to gently lead your Dad on his final journey before they try to operate? If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Cranky, thank heavens sense has been seen and the DNR is going to be respected. The whole idea was ludicrous, what on earth did they expect to achieve.
Neighbour and myself got some clothes from Bon Marche, I did not try mine on will try them on tonight. I got a skirt, 2 pairs of trousers, 2 jumpers and some new knickers.......should keep me going for a while. The rest of my shopping was not so successful...
Tired this afternoon, my laundry dried outside, needs ironing now.
Egg. chips and beans for supper.0 -
Cranky just seen your edit to your post; I am so glad common sense has surfaced. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Edited to re-iterate my thanks. There will be no operation. He will be kept pain free and comfortable now for as long as it takes. I have had confirmation from the consultant that the DNR will now remain in place. Heaven help them if it doesn't. If anyone overturns it they will be wishing they'd chosen a different career.0

Thank heavens for that Cranky common sense has prevailed.0

Thanks once again for giving me the impetus to sort this out. I am official next of kin but I don't like to pull rank unless I really have to as dad wanted his partner to be treated as such. Best laugh of the day Doctor : "Did your dad give permission for the operation?". My answer - "He thinks he's 17, living on Merseyside, going to college and his girlfriend won't give him his bus fare to go. Do you think he's fit to give his permission?" I followed swiftly with "He has 4 rooms in his flat and no longer knows which one is his bathroom and if the previous DNR had been followed as requested we wouldn't even be having this conversation.".
To be fair, the doctor that I spoke to today was lovely. He seemed to think that dad's girlfriend wanted the op to go ahead (she spent 40 minutes last night telling my sister how she'd been press ganged yesterday) and in the phone call to my sister (also yesterday) the doctor told her if she said no they'd do it anyway. The doctor I spoke to today agreed to call dad's girlfriend once more and speak to her slowly and gently (long story but she's medicated - nothing to do with dad) and I said that if it turned out that she really wanted him to have the operation we were 100% behind her. He's not having the op so that says it all. I'd love 5 minutes with whoever scared her yesterday.
Dad will now have antibiotics and all other treatments withdrawn (he's not eating) and will be pain medicated and made comfortable. They mentioned fast tracking him to a nursing home but I'm not sure if he'll get that far.
My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your support today.0 -
Good afternoon everyone :hello:
I've just got back from the hospital and I am freezing. The traffic wasn't too bad but it still took nearly 2 hours to get home. The meeting was very informative but Becky didn't cope well with listening to everyone talking about her so she left after 10 minutes or so. Her psychiatrist thinks she has autism with psychotic symptoms. They are going to start the assessment while she is in hospital. It was very hard to listen to the staff talking about how poorly she is but on the positive side she is very settled on the ward and still feels happy and safe there. It is her birthday on the 4th December so she will be allowed home on leave so we can celebrate with her.
I have been catching up with everyone else's news on here. I was shocked to hear about what was planned for Cranky's dad. So glad common sense and compassion have triumphed.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell nannywindow and dp1. Hope you both soon make a speedy recovery xx
Judi, I have asked to be cremated and put into a firework when the time comes. In reality I don't really care if I am stuffed in a bin bag and chucked on the tip :rotfl:.
Hope the banana gazing was exciting Nelski, you made me smile this morning so thank you xx
Thinking of you Gers after your frightening experience. Hopeyou are not in too much pain today xx
Hugs are available in abundance so feel free to grab as many as you want. Take care everyone xxx0 -

Good to hear Becky can come home for her birthday best get that cake sorted
Cranky good news about dad just shows they are not the ultimate power they think they are.0 -
Dumpling your Becky's birthday is the day before Mr LW's.
I don't blame her for leaving the meeting; I'd curl up and die if I had to listen to a bunch of people talking about me, so I can't imagine how awful it must have been for her in her fragile state. Let's hope they can do an accurate assessment, and get her onto a form of treatment that helps her. x
Btw, I've put my funeral instructions in writing, it's all with my Will at the solicitors, with a copy here at home; I'm to be cremated; I've attended a couple of burials and they really freaked me out. If we had "sky burials" in this country, I'd go for that, but it's not an option.
Mr LW has also been given strict instructions that my ashes are to be scattered; I do not want some future version of Tony Robinson digging me up/finding the urn and analysing my life (and probably getting it all wrong, to boot). If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
