  • Alarmed by the homelessness in Edinburgh and cannot help but count my blessings xx
Unfortunately this is the case in most big cities now. We were in Salzburg and Munich a few years ago and there were people begging on every corner in the city centres. I'm glad you enjoyed the Dome - it is amazing at any time but particularly at Christmas,
The tree is up, parcels wrapped and under it, Christmas cards posted. Struggling a bit to get the washing and ironing done - house looks a bit like a Chinese laundry. Slacked a bit yesterday as it was my birthday but need to try and catch up a bit today.
    Have a good day.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

thrifty Its so hard, I had my kids knowing I could afford them . What annoys me about tax free childcare is that its something every one is entitled to if they work & I took the decision to return to work because that 20% back would basically be my profit and nice for luxuries & treats & its been nightmare to claim. Although it seems to be sorted now had I known it was going to be such a nightmare I might have chosen to stay home til my eldest goes free or at least not included it in my budget had I known it was unreliable. But either way we could have always survived on hubs wage.

That being said, I totally get that circumstances change and I believe that most people could find themselves needing help through no fault of their own & trying to get back what I was due from tax free childcare really opened my eyes to how difficult it was & how I could've easily struggled to feed my kids if that money was something I relied on to make ends meet.

    Xx

    Belated birthday wishes Toni's friend

Last day of holidays today before going back to work tomorrow. I've had a productive morning so far - all recycling into the bin to be collected tomorrow, mine and OH's toiletries organised, freezer rearranged and things identified to be used. Next is the cupboards.

Need to update the food budget as I did a shop yesterday but will have to dig out the receipts first. Am planning to put fuel in the car today so will update that budget too. Social budget remains the same on £57/£100.

Now up to 9/15 NSDs :D
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98

today is a spend day so still on 8- a bit all over the place after being away. hoping to make it to 12 by the end of the week though as I will only have milk to go and buy on Friday to get us through Xmas, providing nothing crops up. still hopeful I can make 15.

This week will be mainly spent getting sorted, I am going to deep clean tomorrow for xmas, I need to clean my car too, and sort the last of my wrapping. Looking forward to doing my final budget on Friday for 2017. Sort of regretting my choice to do over time, as it would have been nice to have had a week to get sorted but the money will come in, and I think I could have the full 1k target in my emergency pot by the end of the month because of it. This will really come in next year!

so so much to do, but looking forward to getting in all done and starting a fresh in 2018, with new stationary and everything. living the dream :)
  • Been a nightmare week. Snowed in for days so had to catch up with work and Christmas prep for OH to wreck his back and end up in a&e last night as the pain was so bad. Budgets etc have been put on hold for the time being and not sure what he will be able to do over Christmas.

Grateful for the strong painkillers that have finally stopped the screaming, family help when needed even if during the night, understanding boss and getting a nap earlier! Will wait and see what tomorrow brings!

  • Managed a NSD so I’m at 6/15. Not sure if I’ll make target at this rate.

Feeling pretty rough today. Left work a little early and I’m happy that that is it until next month now. I’m exhausted, I have a sore throat, I’m tired, my eyes are sore, my ears ache and the office seemed so loud today it was difficult to concentrate. There was a fuddle today but I couldn’t cope with the queue and the smell of the food so went back when it was cleared out and had a slice of bread.

But that’s enough of the miserable talk. I’m off tomorrow although I’m popping into work tomorrow for Secret Santa, and will then head off to work Christmas meal. But in the Morning I’m Going to sort out some bits for Charity Shop and send them off.

I Don’t plan on spending a lot or drinking tomorrow as I’m going to drive in. Cheaper all around and I don’t feel well so will just go home to bed I reckon, unless I feel fine tomorrow.

    Gratitudes:
I’m grateful for time off work
I’m grateful for a lie in tomorrow
    I’m grateful for relaxing evening
I’m grateful for a quick and easy dinner

After exterminating an energy-draining habit and regenerating with a good habit, it is time to implement the use of your very own sonic screwdriver.

From what I have read, Dr Who's sonic screwdriver always comes to his rescue, does what is needed and helps put everything right. It never fails.

For the last 10 (well, 11 really) days of December, identify your sonic screwdriver that will either help you survive Christmas and the end of the month if you are having a mega mad time, or that will make Christmas and the end of the month even better for you. And no, I am not thinking of alcohol for either scenario!

    Day 19
Hugs for those who need them.
Was a spend day today. Have put receipt into notebook so that I can add up total of food spends on Saturday. Got a few food bits for Christmas for family and myself.
Did a tidy bit of decluttering and a bit of tidying up in the flat.
Good habit for rest of year: Aiming to go out each day for a walk.
    Grateful for:
My Christmas present from my brother and his family.
Being in when the present was delivered.
A couple of nice staff in M&S.
For what I have achieved today.
