Is it the sims that will stop working or just the 'myorange' online accounts? Their website suggests just the latter.

It's the account page that will stop on the 29th, the sim will remain live until sometime around the middle of next year. Orange (EE) will try to contact everyone with the old accounts around then to give them the option to move to a new plan or get their PAC.

Just dragging this up again - sorry :o

I have an OVP/VM sim that is our glovebox phone.

I suspect that the DD has lapsed as we haven't used it for ages

If we did use it, how would I know what the charges were and how would I pay?

I've had a letter informing me that my Orange account (OVP Virgin, but they didn't reference the tariff) will be disconnected in a few weeks as it's been dormant.
I have another EE contract that is used as my main account. I said I wanted to keep this OVP account as it is - they were trying to get me to 'upgrade', but no other tariffs are suitable.
I was told to make a call/text once a month and it will remain active.
I will probably request a PAC and move the number to PAYG if Orange is being erased soon.

I am in the same situation, I was told by Orange CS that if I do use the phone I'll be sent a paper bill to pay, or I can set up a new direct debit for them to take anything payable (my original direct debit now only takes payment for the EE plan that replaced my main Orange number).

I asked how long it would be until Orange is finally wound up, they said there's no definite info so far.

Being in exactly the same situation, perhaps I should expect the same letter soon. I'll probably port the number to my Three 'data reward' SIM (If possible).

Think I will dig the phone out of the glovebox and make a call .. just to see what happens! :D

I've had hell with EE for the last 12 months of repetative texts sent to me every other day, contant loss of network and my account closure. I just recently contacted EE to cancel my contract. I asked the rep to admit that I have been bullied out of my contract and he kindly admitted it saying "well t-mobile doesn't exist anymore and we still have lost of clients using that network so we are trying to encourage (he emphasised this word) people to make the switch". when I asked him if I could have the same offer I was on on EE he said no.

Disgrace of a company. I'm certain they will end up in hot water soon enough.
