How annoying the school is saying that about the school meals....the way I understood it - they didn’t have a choice. But it seems they’ve interpreted it differently..... I’m pleased you got your delivery although some of it was missing which isn’t the best.January spends - £587.587

I spoke with the LA again as the vouchers would help. However it does seem it's down to the individual school on what they provide. If they can provide lunches they don't need to do vouchers. But we are registered with the local council as shielding and they've had the confirmation over from the government/PHE. Seems they still want you to try and rely on others rather than them though. Glad we aren't in desperate need like some are. I can't help thinking how much worse this could have been had it been when I'd been at my worst.
I totally forgot about Easter. So today I need to come up with something nice to bake them to make up for it.
Just the usual cleaning and ironing going on here today. Hope you're all okay x

You've got a week yet to think about Easter WF!
It IS sad that some schools know that doing actual food is better for the children concerned than vouchers would be, but it's the way of things sadly, and I suspect always would have been too. Look back at history and there would have been plenty of children going hungry in homes all over the place so that Mum & Dad could get their beers and smokes - if anything with schools keeping a closer eye and social services etc I suspect it happens less now than it used to. You could put a "food only" restriction on the vouchers but that would still mean that potentially the vouchers would get spent on the regular shop and the excess cash that was generated as a result would go to booze for adults etc, so I'm afraid I can see that in some situations the physical provision of food is going to be better. However WF I definitely agree that it doesn't in any way work for you - if nothing else it would increase your anxiety levels, and I think that a lot of us are struggling with that at the moment anyway. Keep doing what you're doing - you're doing brilliantly.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

How frustrating for you that the school are refusing to issue vouchers. They are not having to pay for them so I don't see what they are taking this stance. I wouldn't have thought using another parent to deliver food to you would be an acceptable way of providing a meal for you given that you are self isolating. Would it be possible for one of your youngest's team to contact the school and explain that this is not acceptable?

Thank you. See didn't even know when Easter is! I thought it was this weekend!
Monehwhizz they explained why they are doing it the way they are. No I don't think daughter's team would get involved. They are run of their feet. We had a phone consultation yesterday rather than a face to face and it's so sad how far they are being stretched already. I definitely won't be contacting them unless is an emergency health wise. They booked another phone consultation in 4 weeks.
The dropping at the door can be anyone. The support from the local council are all volunteers that doing doorstep drops so I assume another parent dropping at the door is just the same? I hadn't thought of it to be honest because I'd not really considered accepting the sandwiches.
Smalls are eating late lunch. Soup and flatbreads. They are loving having more fresh fruit at home too. Got to admit I'm not a fruit lover so they usually have a little fresh stuff and some tinned. It's not something I've really fit in the budget and focused more on vegetables (cheaper and more of a meal) even youngest has been eating some. Which has never happened before.

I'm glad the smalls are enjoying the fresh fruit. I think everyone is praying they won't need medical help for anything right now. My DIL thought it was Easter last weekend and gave the GKs their Easter eggs - so it's not just you 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Afternoon.
Thank you for the replies. The anxiety is high today. Strange as I don't feel like anything is making it worse. Maybe less sleep. Didn't get any last night. Found the guidance on BMA and read it and it just made me feel even worse about the situation. Highlights the fact we aren't being asked to shield the vunerable for 12 weeks because they 'care' it's simply because they know if they get sick they'll be left to die. We're hiding away in our houses to protect them. Yet being told by those who are supposed to save them they won't. There's no equality. There's nothing equal about it. I don't think anyone wants more rights. Just to be equal.
Anyway smalls are eating dinner. Then it's bath time and we are going to watch something. One of youngests school friends dropped an Easter card and a sweet on the doorstep this morning. I didn't even know they knew where we lived. It's in its own isolation for a few days but I know when its safe to bring in she will love it.
Hope you're all staying safe x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”8 -
How kind of the friend to drop off a card and sweet - there are still lots of kind people out there.
I can definitely understand your worries and frustrations - life just isn’t fair. You are doing everything you possibly can to keep the virus from your door and keep all your children safe and well 👏👍👏👍

Daily check in.
Not much to report really.
We made more cake. We might be elephants by the time we are out of isolation. The real difference to shopping weekly means I am now eating regular meals too - real meals.
I guess it's the only time I'm grateful that we don't really have anyone we 'miss' the smalls are completely unaffected as it's no different to usual.
Hope you're all okay x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”11
