Wannabe Free, followed your diary for ages and finally popping to say that I think lots of us reading would agree that a cheese sandwich and a packet of crisps isn't worth the risk, we are just all in shock the school think that is an acceptable meal for a child in any circumstances let alone now, and that they are being so inflexible in such an extraordinary situation. If you need anything you obviously already have loads of people willing to help but add me too - I have an amazing independent pharmacy near me that always seems to have items in stock I cannot get at the high street options, including hard to get prescription items (ahem, HRT!). And although my own diary is on this forums, I am here under slightly false pretenses (as its friendlier) and so able to help. LLxxx

I stopped using Asda some years ago because of the substitutions. I realise right now it’s not easy to get exactly what you want. You’re doing the best thing staying home and keeping your family safe. I don’t think I’d trust anything coming in through a takeaway or ready made food at the moment either.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

These are guidelines issued by the goverment & not affected by the fact the school is an academy or a council run school.

Hi WB
I wouldn't risk it for a sandwich and packet of crisps either especially as you say you can provide something warm and nutritious for them. I do think a piece of fruit and a carton of juice or milk should be added on. If families are getting £3 per day, per child in vouchers, a sandwich and crisps definitely isn't costing them that.
It's a sad state of affairs if your school (and I'm sure they're not the only ones), feel that providing food is better than providing vouchers. It wouldn't have crossed my mind that they might not get spent on who they're supposed to be helping. I only hope there's some sort of caveat about what you can and can't buy with them.
Have a lovely evening. Just about to watch The Trouble with Maggie Cole now. I love Dawn French, she always brings a smile to my face. xx6 -
Beanie WA you
Thank you Tea. Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me here. Someone very local to me has someone delivering breakfast etc because they know if they didn't the children would go without food. It makes me sad but I try not to think too much into it as they are receiving more support than me daily and I can't change it. So I am glad school are aware of what's needed and where and it's reassuring I've seen stuff happening where it's needed most.
We are seriously missing some routine and getting to some appointments. I never thought I'd miss appointments. But the physio etc is missed. I miss my own appointments. It makes me realise how much we all needed the appointments.
We are getting on though. It's tough being responsible alone for everything and no one confirming things etc. Had a phone appointment with youngests respiratory team today which went okay. Another slight change in meds still trying to find the balance.
But other wise baking and cleaning is the main part of our day“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”9 -
I was in Boots yesterday and the shelves were well stocked with hand sanitiser, paracetamol and calpol. If you still need stuff, PM me and I can get some stuff down to you7

Beanie - my yoga classes are all now online. I'm actually doing more yoga now than I was before! Pilates is all online too, and I believe my physio is doing skype sessions too. Sadly I don't think you can do acupuncture via video call though!7
