Good idea to get some meals in the freezer for easier days. The brownie recipes are making me feel hungry.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Thank you for the recipes. Going to have a go with him today.
Asda has been. No beans. Eggs. Pasta or liquid paracetamol. Quite a few substitutes too. It seems there's still not many basic brands of anything.

I'm glad your food delivery came. It's a shame about the missing items though. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It seems that if your school cannot deliver school meals to you then they should provide you with a voucher. Suffolk lass has provided the link in her post. It is worth contacting them to find out if they can do that for you. That would take care of your Asda delivery every week.7

The school are doing the lunches not vouchers. They have been in touch and I have with them. They can't deliver but have said a parent from one of the school children could. If I get to the point I need too I will do that. But for two sandwiches and two packets of crisp I really don't want to accept it unless it's a choice of being able to feed them and not. We don't eat out usually because of the risk of infection and things so even more so now I'm worried about who is making them/who comes into contact with them. Plus who's delivering them and knowing my address etc. It's just not something I feel comfortable with. If it does come to it I will obviously if the other option is them going hungry.
It's half term next week and school will be open but the lunches won't be on. So they will deliver a bag with bread/cheese and the crisps in. If they did this every week I'd take it. But I really don't want food others have touched that I can't wash.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”8 -
I would post the texts that they are sending but it has the schools name/teacher name on etc and I'm not sure that's safe on a public forum.
But when I called them they said they aren't doing the vouchers as they feel they need to provide food to make sure the most vunerable actually get a meal.
Which I do understand. However they don't provide a drink etc so I'm not sure how they class a sandwich and packet of crisp as a 'meal'
I'm quite lucky that mine have been having porridge for breakfast still. Then lunch is actually easier than when they're at school. As I'm using leftovers or soup mainly.
Youngest doesn't qualify for lunch. She isn't in full time education so doesn't get a meal in school any other time.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”8 -
They should be providing a piece of fruit not the crisps and they should definitely give a drink. How is that a nutritious lunch for a growing child?
The children at my school today had roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, baked beans or sweetcorn, cauliflower and a large slice of flapjack for pudding, with a cup of water to drink. So a sandwich and a bag of crisps doesn't seem very good compared to that! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I tried to speak to the council. But it's an academy so she said they follow their trust guidelines rather than council ones.
Like I say I think I've posted long enough here now for people to know Im really not fussy and we have used foodbanks etc. But right now I know everything in the house has been cleaned. Nothing comes in the house striaght away. Everything is washed in antibacterial before it comes in. Then I wash myself and change my clothes and bleach anything the 'incoming' things have touched. I'm pretty confident in knowing we are not at risk of catching it. We haven't left the house and the house and everything in it is and continues to be cleaned.
It feels bringing a ready made cheese sandwich and a packet of crisps in isn't worth the risk right now. I can't risk any of us getting sick. Not just youngest but myself or the others too. Might seem I'm wrapping them in cotton wool but I just can't risk anyone needing to go to the Dr or worse.

I agree with you Wannabe that it doesn't seem worth the risk. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Me, too. They are far better with what you're doing. A sandwich and a packet of crisps? That's ridiculous.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6
