Hi Wannabe delurking to send you a virtual hug during this worrying time.
Also would it be worth making a new claim to DLA for DD ? Given the period of time that has elapsed since the disallowance and given her condition has worsened or at least understood more, a claim may succeed which would give you the benefit now ( you would still need the appeal for the back period). Just a thought, I suspect claim processes will be relaxed, so no face to face assessment etc
Take care lovely x7 -
Hi, just delurking to ask about free school meals. I understand that if you are entitled to them you will be given vouchers to cover the cost while school is closed. Is it worth registering your kids if they are eligible? You could always cancel once school returns, especially if your kids don't like them. Might help with the extra costs x6

Busymee I've thought about it. But I'm unsure how it affects the appeal. I guess after I'm sorted this week we will have a lot of time at home to look into it.
Fiona we are eligible for free school meals. However our school is providing these children with lunches but we can't attend to get them yet. They are looking into what they can do but not holding my breath on a quick response. They are under so much pressure with the unknown.
Food wise. Once I've shopped the smalls will be fine for food. I have meal planned. I already weigh/count things out to make sure what I buy stretches. Especially main meals/bread etc. Obviously the fresh things will eventually run out but they'll still be fed. Where as usually I'd use my grocery budget to top up shortfalls this month it's not possible as I can't risk nipping out in the week etc looking for yellow stickers or shopping around.

One poss silver lining - and I'm not sure if this is yet confirmed- seems to be that benefits coffers are being unlocked. I think the govt is aware that the PR will be dreadful if they make it worse for people than it needs to be.
Love to you all Humdinger x8 -
Morning WB
Have you managed to get out for the things you need or is it still just as hard to find what you want? Hubby was showing me clips people are putting on Twitter showing their stockpiles. It's ridiculous and disgusting. Flour, pasta and rice piled high, literally floor to ceiling. Absolutely no thought for anybody else apart from themselves. I hope they choke on it. xx

No tea. Not really. It's ridiculous.
I'm quite wary of how many places we go. I will manage though. I will swap things around and make the best of what's available.
Need to pop to the other side of town to the pawn shop and then into the town hall to pay some bills.
I'm still struggling to see any positives out of this. And the amount of people that are still just going about their normal life is making me angry. I understand people need to work. No one needs to be sat in the pub. No one needs to be doing the several things that aren't going to work or to appointments.
I just feel so angry about it all.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”9 -
However taking the frustration away.
The positives are temperature watch remains all normal. Everyone seems fine. We get to spend a lot of extra time together - we should soak this in and make the most of slowing down. We will eat. It might not be amazing. It might be not what we have planned. But we won't starve. Some will we are lucky we aren't in that position. We have a roof over our head. That I'm determined to keep safe. There's some who don't have that.
While we have it some what 'worse' than many. We have a lot of things that many dont. We will continue to be grateful for what we have. The friends we have. The help we receive.
I might be quieter on here however we are grateful for everything here has done and continues to do for us. We will be forever grateful for that. In good and bad times. I feel like I've made friends for life on here that do extend more than just online.
Take care and keep safe x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”11 -
Totally agree. While I'm always very proud of our keep calm and carry on attitude I'm dismayed at the stupidity and selfishness this is bringing out in some people. Mum asked me to look out for flour because she makes her own bread. I popped into the local Mr T and they had 6 on the shelf. I took one because that's all she needs. In my opinion I think the supermarket quotas are still way too high. Do your jobs then get home and lock yourself down for the weekend. xx9

What a lovely post WF, you sound a lot more positive 😁
Tea - entirely agree, shops should reduce the number of items allowed.
I nipped into a Sainsburys Local this morning for a paper. A bloke asked the till staff how many packets of cigarettes he was allowed to buy. The response was you can buy as many as you like, you're still allowed to smoke yourself to death
🤣
We won't forget 2020 in a hurry that's for sure.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9 -
Nearly prepared.
However pawn shop closed. Will be open tomorrow but the town hall won't be. Which will me a trip to the local town to the pawn shop. Then the bus into big town to go to the bank. Then the bus home. Stressful.
