Is there enough of the original flooring to do one room? That wild T least get something straight soon. Then you could try freegle or similar for the remaining floor.

I ha mismatched carpet on my concrete floors for 4 years (other peoples offcuts) and only had underlay for 2 of those. In fact I may still have some insulation for floors, and possibly some bamboo flooring thatisn’t needed, so pm me with details of how much you need and I can check next time i’m home.
  • I've just had a quick read of the current decent homes standard and annoyingly there's nothing specifically relating to floor coverings, however I'd say it's still worth raising the question with your MP if the HA are being unhelpful as I can't believe that in this day and age most people would consider a bare concrete floor to be acceptable to any family, particularly a vulnerable one with young children.

I'd also consider a formal approach to the HA requiring them to make good the damage caused by the repairs being undertaken - this also doesn't seen unreasonable.

I spent yesterday trying to fill the majority of the floor. I've managed to cover most of the living room and the sofa is where there isn't any. I've also managed to do the front hallway and part of the kitchen (the bit you walk on) leaving under the appliances. The back hall way has none. But it's better than nothing anywhere. It doesn't look the best but again better than nothing. I've also seen some big rugs in the local council second hand shop for around £30 each so this could be another cheaper option for now too. I need to get some basic paint to put the walls straight. Just going to stick to the basic trade white I think especially with so much needing doing. Cheapest and easiest to keep touching sticky fingers up.

I have youngest home from school today poorly. Just a 'normal poorly' for now Will keep an close eye on her. So today will be pretty lazy. Sleep still isn't great at around 3 broken hours a night.

Other two are in school and happy. Definitely need to check through DS's bags tonight and get them checked against the list. I'm pretty sure he just needs to put the stuff he needs at home before going in. We have a high school visit tomorrow evening (3 hours to try and listen and keep the others entertained should be fun!)

Anyway hope you all have a good day

  • I hope littlest one feels better soon and you get more sleep, I don't know how you cope on so little.

Well done on getting most of the floors covered :). The rugs sounds like a good option too.
