    Morning,

    It's be a crazy 24 hour but I'm back.

Meeting went well, I now owe school now though for some things for DS starting his final year. Ordering at the meeting brings a 25% discount to waiting though!

We managed to get everything done etc

This morning was another hectic running around back and forth! But I'm finally sat down with a cuppa.

    Hope you're all well

Morning WB :) Glad the meeting went well and you got DS sorted out for his final year, although I must admit to being intrigued as to what things he'll need. I can't remember either of mine having to have anything special.

25% discount is not to be sniffed at is it. Will you be able to pay school off a bit at a time?

I'm sat here with a brew stuffing a tunnocks teacake in my mouth wondering how guilty I would feel if I was a piggy and dipped into the box again :rotfl:

    Have a great day. xx

We have a different uniform in the last year Tea. It's just been added onto parent pay so will pay on Friday :) I also discovered if I order DD's uniform before the summer holidays through school there is a 25% discount on that too so I will fit that in my budget in June. It makes quite a big difference. We discussed SATS etc and he needs nothing extra for those it is all provided which is good.

Thank you for indulging my nosiness WB :D I was thinking he needed some sort of special equipment for lessons but couldn't quite figure out what it would be :o Blimey, 25% off DD's uniform is brilliant. :T

Oh the dreaded SATS year  Mind you if your school is anything like DD's and DS's you won't have to feed him for the term before. ;) They had breakfast clubs and tea clubs but unfortunately, no sleepover clubs :rotfl: xx

One thing we found was that the primary school DD was at before we moved, ploughed the kids with lots and lots of practise tests during school and for homework. When we moved the primary school she ended up at they didn't do anything until after the Easter break and even then it was the minimum.

When DH mentioned the previous school and asked why they're different, the teacher said 'they are a waste of time and mean nothing'.

We knew that the secondary schools reassess them anyway, as they did that with DS, because they need to check that what the primary school are saying is correct, as the higher figures make the school look good on paper.

So please don't worry about them xx

P.s sorry for the long spiel :rotfl:

Totally agree with what PurpleMum says. The way some schools go on about them you'd think children's lives were completely mapped out aged 10/11 on SATS results. It was a real eye opener after the intense revision sessions DD went through at primary that she got to high school and was re-assessed. :o

I think exams are good in their own right from a personal point of view with regard to progression, but really it's about school league tables and not much more at DS's stage. From what I've read you're obviously level headed about things and I can't imagine you letting DS get too hung up about them when the time comes. :) xx

Why do they have a different uniform for the last year? I know you'd probably have to buy a uniform for him anyway but I just don't see the logic of having a different one.

I’ve never heard of different uniform in Yr6 - many moons ago when there was 6th form at our local secondary schools rather than colleges we have now - the 6 th form wore different as a privilege- maybe ds school is thinking along those lines - who knows - I can’t think of any other reason. Hope you’ve got growing room in them - our yr 6 have grown so much this year and seem much more grown up than I ever was at 11.:rotfl::rotfl:

My neighbours grandchildren wear a different colour sweatshirt in Y6 , then they can only be bought from school ! A 25% discount is a good bargain.
