Independants are the way to go on FB's as they can have much more flexabily in how they help & in what way.

I think I'll look into that locally. My neighbour's son runs a food bank for his church (I am not a religious person) and does such good work for the disadvantaged in society. I think I'll have a word with him.

I don't know enough about how any food bank operates to properly comment but I'd probably stick to donating to independents now. Trussell Trust has done a great job in getting information out there and getting people to acknowledge the fact so many are struggling but I just hope like some of the bigger charities they don't lose sight of what they set out to do.
  • I agee that three times a year is hopeless to people in real need . Then they can just starve the rest of the year .

Another thing that annoys me is that Wannabe is paying all that money in council tax when she can barely afford food and heat, it's all wrong .

Thank you for all the replies, sorry got carried away ironing then when I bathed the girls they wanted their hair blow drying. Apparently my 'new room' is a hairdressers too now  :rotfl: Anyway all in bed now. Not asleep yet though

I think the 3 times thing is as it's suppose to be there to support you short term and I suppose there are some who really would take advantage if there wasn't a limit. I'm going to speak to them again when I pop in next. It's right by the town hall and there's other things in there so I will be calling in even though I can manage food wise. I have donated quite a bit over time but never really took notice in how they give out :o That makes me feel bad for saying that.

Thank you Beanie :A Please pass them on to everyone else too :A

Chickpea & lentil curry was eaten for dinner. Clear plates all round and some in the freezer for ready meals.

Finally finished the ironing and the final bits of the room changing around. It works so much better

HH the CT is so high because this years bill is over a shorter period of time as I was late setting the arrangement up I think and the arrears are on a separate account number and they have halved what I pay from £25 a week to £12.50 for now.

I can see how some people might take advantage but when TT are talking about how universal credit is leaving people without money for weeks, you can only hope they have the sense to break their own rules.

Did you let the girls play hairdressers with your hair? I remember DD giving me some very weird and wonderful hairstyles and make overs when she was younger. We also went though the manicure stage. So much hand cream I was like a slippery eel and nail polish half way up my fingers, which is the weirdest sensation :rotfl:

Good about the reduction in CT, it'll give you a bit more breathing space until things are sorted out. x

No The Tussell do not bend the rules.
People who do referrals to them in my local area have been pulled up about giving more than 3 vouchers in the given time

But it's not as though they're giving anything away themselves is it. It's food that's been donated by people who want to help others. I bet the majority of people don't even know TT have such strict rules in place.

Wannabe, I meant to ask, did your equipment that you need arrive? x
