  • I can understand having to pay for trips etc where there are travelling costs, entrance fees, etc but for dress down days, nativity plays, school parties, etc where there is no cost to the school involved is just beyond me.

How is the wee one? Is she feeling any better?
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • I've never heard of a primary school charging parents for tickets for a nativity performance..that's
    appalling.

I hope your little one is feeling better today.

  • Morning (although no doubt it will be afternoon before I post)

Smalls away to school. Youngest seems a bit better today. Might send her in tomorrow to ease her back in. Non uniform tomorrow so need £3.

I still need to sort a star costume out for youngest and Xmas jumpers too and pay her school trip :o

Will do the school trip money tomorrow and hope the rest can wait until next week.

Have made a meal plan out of what we have in and that should see us through until the 7th when I can do a shop again. Just need some bread and potatoes, will probably need juice for the kids too.

Need to be better organised going forward so we don't end up so short at the end of the month

I'm considering squeezing a nap in with youngest. We have cleaned and things and the weather is horrid so no reason to go out. Blankets and a cuppa on the sofa sound inviting :rotfl:

Tonight I need to get in the loft and dig out the Xmas decorations.

Hope everyone else is well :)

  • Lots of people seem to be selling Christmas jumpers and nativity costumes on the local FB selling pages here. Do you have anything like that where you are? You could always put a ‘looking for’ post and see what is offered Xx

Thank you Lucky, have asked on local selling sites but no luck. I'm watching a couple on eBay but unsure if they'd arrive in time :o Going to check the Salvation army tomorrow too.

Can't believe the school is charging for a nativity  People at work with school age children do nothing but complain about how much schools want out of them since they became academies. Raising children is expensive enough as it is!

Have you tried Primani for the xmas jumpers?
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I would definitely check charity shops for Christmas jumpers.

Another idea is can you sew stars, or Christmas motifs, or even tinsel onto some existing jumpers? It seems a waste of money to buy special Christmas jumpers for children when they grow so quickly. If you had some old material you could make Christmas motifs to sew on?

I send mine in winter t shirts. They are always too hot in jumpers and the t shirts are a couple of pounds (got them in the sale though) they can wear t shirts again and again and they become winter p Js when needed!

Wannabe I hope you get the jumpers/t shirts sorted , HB had some good jumpers in or B@M I think.

Also that little one gets to school today as they will be doing Xmas activities now and am sure she will want to be involved.

As for charging for stuff , can you refuse to pay ? Not everyone can afford everything.

    Have a good day .
