I always warn new parents or parents of children about to start school that education is far from free these days and that it gets worse as they get older. Even years ago when my dd was at school (she is in her 40's) school seemed to be constantly asking for money and it appears to be much worse now. The latest is dgd who has just started college a trip to New York for only £1250 for I think 4 days. Fortunately I had a savings account with that in it but where are parents supposed to get all this money from?0

That’s horrific re school charging to see the nativity . What costumes do you need?
Glad the books have taken the pressure off Christmas for you XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Awful £21 for nativities. I'm so sorry the school have done this. There is normally a fund for families that need it to pay for trips etc but the nativity cost is awful.
Well done for everythign else you are doing and your positivity.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I agree. My two are covered for a lot of things by the ‘Pupil Premium’. Could you maybe ask the school? XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thank you I will speak to the school because either way they will need to wait for the money until the 7th
I'm hoping their Dad can get time out of work and will go to the nativities
I will feel bad not going. Although if he can't I will go. I won't leave them with no one there. Lucky I have sorted DD's (she's an innkeeper) and DS's (he's one of the wise men) I just need to put something together for youngest who is a star.
I think I might have to ask my mum to get them Xmas jumpers. Although we haven't spoken for a few months so it will be awkward
I have the out-laws visiting at weekend (secretly hoping she drops their Xmas cards off
and I will convince the smalls to buy jumpers with them and I will pay them back before Xmas) Or does that make me really mean
I realise how horrid that sounds now I've wrote it down!
Cashed out £11 from PA and topped the gas and electric up. That's one less worry until weekend at least.
Smalls had sausage mash and gravy for dinner with veg and in a homemade yorkie pudding. They where so impressed
Easily pleased.
Thank you again Lucky the smalls will love the books (and me
) They are wrapped and hidden away

It's not terrible at all if they're not needing anything right now except the jumpers then why not xxNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050

Morning
Spoke to school waiting for a phone call back from them.
I think I need to start writing lists again! I seem to have so much on and can never remember when.
Just having a coffee then will get on with my ironing. Still boring, nothing really going on
Waiting for their Dad to see if he can get time away from work to go to the nativities.
Hope everyone is okay x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0 -
That's insane about the nativities. Your school seems to ask for a lot of money for silly things. We just get given two tickets per performance and that's it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Since we changed to an academy it is every week money is needed for something. They are constantly selling cakes/milkshake etc. Non uniform for £1 each etc. Which is bad when I had one at school but now its times three!
