  • On the school front, I changed schools for my youngest DDs, so DD4 had the last 2 years of primary in a different school. It hasn't affected her adversely, rather she has made great friends and got through her SATS fine.

Hoping you have a good night tonight W, and it's good to hear the fine is no longer hanging over you.

I think the advice about moving schools sooner rather than later is very sound, as is advice to take care of yourself. x

Just to add my tuppence to the school debate - I have 2 examples and both are my kids.

We moved house when DS was 9 and I continued to drive 7 miles there and back every day to keep him in his school, at that time the area was a three tiered education so at the end of Year 4 all his friends left to go to middle school and I moved him to a school in my new area which was only two tier so effectively he was back in primary school. He did 2 years at his new school before he went on to HIgh school.
On the outside it appears my son was not affected by this but even now at the age of 21 he always mentions how he didnt follow his friends to middle school - honestly you would think I literally wrenched him from the arms of his friends out of the blue but then he is a drama queen and loves to hold a grudge.

And last year I moved my daughter at what may have been the 2nd worst time any one can move - entering Year 10 ready for GCSE's - she is a very shy young girl and I wasnt sure how it would work but she has embraced it and has a new best friend, honestly you wouldnt know she hasnt been there for years, she has made loads of friends and when summer holidays came round I was shocked that she had only been there a yaer as it feels much longer.

Kids are resilient, they adapt - safety has to come first.

I know the kids would adapt, I just feel guilty they have a great group of friends and the older two finally love their school. It took DS a long time to settle in where as DD has pretty much loved it from day one other than a few minor issues. Youngest obviously hasn't started yet.

I guess I need to decide though eventually. The longer I stay here the lower the debt will be when/if I do move.

Thank you for all taking the time to reply

Morning, a new week - they seem to be flying by!

Not really sure on today's plans. Have a hospital trip planned this morning and I have some things I should sort in town. I don't really want to go to town but it is probably easier today alone rather than waiting and taking all the smalls  Will see how long the hospital takes and then decide.

Either way it won't be a NSD as I will get a paper cup coffee no doubt.

Need to use today to make a plan for the week - keeping the kids entertained without too much heavy activity on my part. Also want to try and fit the circus in this week but a taxi there and back along with the tickets it won't be the cheapest thing to do :o

I really do appreciate all the help and advice, along with the nice messages and replies I'm unsure what to say back to most without rambling on and going to deep. But really thank you I do appreciate it and take everything said on board

    Afternoon WF,

Definitely get the town things sorted today with no kids in tow!!!

Re the school thing, I work in a school office so see the children first hand as they come into our school. It always surprises me how much people move around (not saying this is you by the way!) just that lots of people do move their children.
The children are usually fine and its the parents feeling horrendous leaving the school gates.
Plus its so much easier nowadays to keep in touch with people.

    xx

    Morning,

MTG The smalls have only been to this one school since starting in nursery there. I really don't want to have to move them if I can avoid it. It's took so long for DS to fit in with a group of friends I'd hate to make him start all over again now and then again for high school. I'm considering looking for somewhere else to live but still in distance of bringing them to current school I think. Or maybe just stay put and try to improve the situation here.

Went to hospital and town. Got some bits done but I couldn't get it all done. I did have a paper cup coffee (or two :o) and I ended up in a taxi home because I just couldn't walk it.

I have cleaned etc this morning and now I'm waiting for a parcel. Will need to do something with the smalls later. Maybe cakes/cookies they can near enough do themselves :o :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well and has a lovely day
