  • Wannabe - has your Housing and Council Tax Benefit not been sorted yet?
If you are on Income Support you should get all your rent paid and the majority of your Council Tax.

Please get it sorted as it will free up money to come off the arrears.

If you need help PM me
  • That does seem like an awful lot for rent. We live in two bedroom maisonette and ours is £122 per fortnight plus we get two rent free fortnights per year. It's quite a nice area and the council have upgraded the properties recently. I don't get any benefits so that's the full rate. As EE says are receiving housing and council tax benefit.

  • Beanie I meant to say it IS average here. It's social housing so less than private rent. It's actually £100.07 a week but I pay £25 a week arrears.

EE will pm you about them when I'm home and tell you what's going on with them. But currently no the benefits for them aren't in payment although hopefully they will be before the coming years council tax needs paying. I still need to pay the arrears at £26.odd a week though.

TF this is a 3 bed end terrace but with a real back 'garden' although the bedrooms are box rooms and only big enough for a single bed in 2 of those! Still with it being social housing its one of the cheapest 3 beds unless you go into the really bad estates. Like I say here isn't desirable and I'd rather be on the other side of town but I'd need a miracle for that to happen.. it's at least what I pay here for a 1 bed flat over there.

  • Morning :)

We have a fair amount of snow. Enough for the smalls to play in when they get home.

I think we might need a bit extra gas this week so will keep an eye on how much we are eating into the 'spare' bit on the meter. I like knowing there's a bit to fall back on if things are desperate.

Need to do a food shop at the end of the week. Milk/juice and some odds to make the meals into full meals. Also sweets for DS to take in on his birthday.

Book day - DD is being a witch and taking her new 'The worst witch' books. Using halloween costumes we already have :o DS is taking youngest's 'It's my Birthday' book and wearing a birthday badge. After all it IS his Birthday ;) So will only cost the £2 donation to school.

Nice bit of planning for the costumes, W!

  • I know what you mean, W. My son lived in privately rented accommodation which was horrendously expensive. He's back with us at the moment saving to buy a place of his own. Hope you get the rent and council tax sorted soon. It will make such a difference to you.
Well done on the costumes. Really inventive. I've said it before but I just don't understand schools asking for all this money for "activities". Mother's Day lunch at school and charging the Mothers to attend!!! I wonder whose idea that was.

While here isn't a desirable area I am starting to love our little house. I know who the good are and I know who the bad are. I keep myself to myself but know there is people who would be there if needed. It's local to the kids school/the local hospital and A&E. I can manage walking to everything (when I'm well)

Others looking at the area might not agree because it is far from 'Nice' But once I shut the front door I'm getting to the point I feel happy with how we've made our home. I guess that's what matters most.

    Afternoon :)

Still got snow! The main roads seem okay though. Although very busy this morning!

Lasagne for DS tonight and spag bol for DD. Have cut some wedges and done salad. Think I will have soup. Going to look like soup if I eat much more :rotfl:

Waiting for school finish time so we can all have a hot drink and then stay in and watch a movie in the warm I think.

That is probably the most important thing. Our is nice but certainly not the best in the area. However, I have the best neighbours in the world. Always there with help and support where it's needed but without being intrusive.
