Thanks KP. I feel a bit better today about the house, I think you can cope when one thing goes wrong but when there are a few things then it pulls you down. Still got no water but theres nothing I can do about that. Had a phone call off Anglian yesterday and they are coming Wednesday now instead of the 29th so that's good news.

Am still cooking like mad. Made a big batch of Chicken tikka on Saturday and froze that and I've taken some mince out of the freezer this morning so that I can make some bolognaise sauce, that should fill the freezer up a bit for some emergency lunches. Got french onion soup for lunch today and some chicken in bbq sauce for my tea so even though I'm meal planning day by day it seems to be working.

Off to work now, will catch up later.

Hmmmm GR the french onion soup sounds lovely. Might make a pan of this one day.
Sorry to hear you're having problems with the house, it's hard though making such huge decisions. Well done still doing the day by day menu, especially under the circumstances :)

Thanks Diz, I wish I could meal plan for the week though. Had a slight change of plan today, decided to make a pan of bolognaise sauce to freeze so had that with some spaghetti instead of the chicken so it's the chicken for tomorrow night.
  • Why not plan for seven days but not a set meal each day I 7 lunches and 7 dinners and you pick what you want on the day. Even 3 days a go would help.

I need to get back into that I did help save money and make it easier when I got home from work when I did it.

I can't believe how much money I'm saving by taking lunch into work and cooking in the evening. I normally spend £5 per day easily on lunch and drinks but since I've been taking my own I've not spent a penny. The only money I've spent the last 4 days is 30p per day to buy The Sun to collect the tokens.

Also by planning what I'm going to cook in the night I'm saving on take-aways because I got into the habit of popping into the supermarket to 'see what i fancied for tea' or popping out for a take-away. Not very money-saving at all.

Well I was sent home from work early today as the snow was really bad and I'm trying my hardest yet again to thaw the pipes out. Would give the world for a nice hot bath in my own house rather than popping over my mums for one. Don't we take water for granted. Came home from work to a nice surprise today a cheque from Swinton Insurance for £100 cashback from taking my policy out with them. I'd forgotten all about that so it was something to cheer me up :)

Hope this snow disappears, I really am getting sick of it now!

Hi GR...noticed KP, yourself and me haven't updated our diary for a few days. Hope all is ok and that you're still doing great making/planning meals.

  • Yep looks like we all been busy. Hope you both ok and GR that you have been able to keep up the good work on the meal planning. Me - Im not doing great and succumbed to a £23 pizza takeout yesterday as low on food and forgot to defrost stuff.

Hi guys, still doing great but had an assignment that needed finishing for Thursday so have spent every single daylight moment on it. Have handed it in now so it's back to the grindstone. Have been really good with taking lunches to work and cooking in the evening. The girls in work keep commenting how well I'm doing. I even feel as if my clothes are a bit baggier so that's also an advantage.

Not much happening on the money front. Hav esaved £15 in work in the kitty, £15 on my asda card for next Xmax and £40 with my mother so that appears to be going well. However as I started back to work full-time in December the tax credits people have reduced my payment by £25 per week so I'm not very happy with that. Still, I can't have it all I suppose.

Hope your both doing well even though KP gave into a pizza and Diz hope your managing to stay away from the supermarkets.

Not updated for a while but not very much to say. Am plodding along nicely and got the following savings:

    Mum = £70
    Christmas Club = £110
    Work Savings = £25
    Asda Card £25

That's not counting the coppers jar, the £2 tin and the silver jar which is currently up to £53.20.

Am still doing well with the cooking and not bought lunch once this year, which is really excellent for me :)
  • My oh my I'm not doing very well on the posting front. It may be because nothing seems to be happening in my household at the moment. Work has been plodding on nicely and I'm pleased to admit that I've taken packed lunch into work every single day this year so I'm saving loads of money (but don't quite know where it's gone!!!). No major money news for me, just seem to be carrying on as normal. Am still saving every week for various things and have not thought any more about a summer holiday. I've not even sold a stitch on e-bay or Amazon.

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentines weekend, catch up soon.

    GR x
