Can I please have your suggestions....

I currently wash, pierce with knife 4 times and the wrap in tin foil and put in oven, for 200c for 1 hour - it is OK, nothing special, I would like it to be special, how can I make it more crispy on the outside and softer in the inside...

    Thank you

    Hi MsDee:j

I stick a fork in it at least ten times, coat with a little oil and sprinkle on a tiny bit of salt.:o

Then put on an oven tray for around 40 mins (can't think!) ay 180. How you know when it is cooked - use a fork to make a perforated line up the middle of the potato - squeeze the sides and if it pops open it is ready. If not, another 5 mins or so. No idea who taught me that or where I read it, but it's fool proof for me! :j

I never found them as nice in the mircowave :)

There's others methods in the perfect baked potato, so have a read and I will merge this later for you

    thanks

I wash mine, pr!ck them with a fork, rub salt into the skin (makes them more crispy) and cook for 75mins on gas mark 6. :)

Usually works for me though cooking times can be adjusted depending on size.

  • Buy Desiree spuds. Rub a drop of oil and sea salt on the pricked spud. Stick it in the oven on the bare bars for a good 2 hours on gas 3. Butter, salt & pepper. Yum.

I prod with a fork and put in microwave for about 4 or 5 mins. Then I put it in a little oven dish (like a pie dish) and smear in butter, turn once for about half an hour to 3/4's

Last time i did them in foil in the oven then tested they were done by stabbing.
Not sure what they'll be like but last time i had BP, i had 4 so cooked them all and now have 3 still wrapped in foil in the freezer, i thought it may be better to do them at the same time.

I'm slightly different. Like some above I rub with oil and salt, then I pierce it with a metal skewer (you can get two on a skewer leaving a gap between) and put them in the oven (I rarely check the temperature for baked pots).

The skewer heats up and helps the inside cook quickly, the skin goes lovely and crispy, and its always fun getting the potatoes off the skewer!

Don't pierce just rub with butter and coat with salt cook in the oven at 220 for 1 to 1.5 hours.
This gives a crunchy outside and soft middle.
    Enjoy with some butter.
