Nothing that'll hurt you if you ignore them.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Because a microwave is an invention designed to cook things quickly. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I feel embarassed asking that coz I'm sure I should know!
where the stalks or whatever they are called come out of the potatoes - they are called "eyes". You don't want to eat them or nasty black bits
Ovens take a lot longer to cook anything than microwaves to I reach a compromise if I am hungry and want to eat quickly and cook it first in the microwave and then the oven.0 -
The oven method is best IMO, gas mark 5 or 6 for about hour or more
With oven time is not critical so gives time to prepare & cook other items, or pop in oven at same time on other shelves for instance
PS You can also do as many or few as you wish in oven, with microwave you will have to multiply time by number of spuds, so 1 spud say 10 minutes, 2 psuds is 20 minutes and 3 spuds is 30 minutes, so for a family of say four then ordinary oven often winsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Wash and dry the potatoes, prik the skin all over, smear olive oil all over, over with rock salt, bake in the oven at 180 for 1.5 - 2 hours. Use your hands to do the oil and salt bit - bit messy but worht it. My suggestion certainly isn't the best method but I was trying to keep it relatively simple for the OP. I'm a little concerned with hindsight that I suggested he use a knife :rotfl:
We all have to start somewhere I guess0 -
Hi SS,
There's another current thread on baking potatoes so I've merged both threads together to keep all the suggestions on one thread.
