Perfect baked potatoes

baked potatoes also freeze well ......... batch cook when you have oven space while cooking something else
cook in foil, until just soft, leaving them in the foil freeze when cold. defrost on the day you want them , unwrap and place in hot oven on baking tray, they will colour and crisp up in just a few minutes and the potato will be very fluffy from the freezing.
a quick supper if you have left over chilli, curry, or grated cheese and coleslaw, tuna and sweetcorn etc0 -
The way I do Jackets is only buy proper Jacket potatoes, give the skins a scrub and using a fork prod the potatoes about 6 times then put them in the centre of the oven for approx 1 hour. My oven is fan assisted and I set it to about 160-180 for perfect jackets.0

Honest.
How do you cook jacket potatoes?
Can someone tell me via oven and microwave, how long, foiled or not, etc?
Also, if I want to put cheese and ham on it etc, do you put it on after or give it a few minutes in the cooker with the toppings on?
I thank you. :beer:0 -
Hi SS!
whatever you do dont put foil on it in the micro! it will wreck the micro!
I just wash it, !!!!! it and shove it in for about ten mins, sometimes I do it for less then finish off in the proper oven to crisp it up a bit! You can stick your fillings in and pop back in the micro briefly(cheese melts quickly!)
if you are using the proper oven I like mine well cooked so stick it in for about 1 and a half hours from raw, I dont bother with foil at all!
Hope this helps!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Ahh bless you. Wash the potato and cut the eyes out, stab the potato a few time with a knife, stick in the microwave, maybe for about 5 mins (depends how big the potato is) turn it over after alotted time and cook again for another 5 mins ish or until it is squidgey (poke a knife in and see if it seems raw in the middle). If you like the skin crispy, pop it in the oven for a few mins at about 200-220. If you cook the potato from start to finish in the oven it takes along time! Do NOT use foil in a microwave, in he oven yes that's ok.0 -
I just wash the potato, stab it with a fork a few times, stick it in the oven and tune in to 220°C. Come back about 1¾ hours later. Turn it over half way through if you remember.
Add topping & eat. :drool:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Not spuds again!!!
Have you been out to buy the new microwave yet? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
*sorry*de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
