Guy I spoke to on their CS said to try sometime after 4pm.Dave. :wave:0

I have had my card refused today and twice previously.
I got through to a recorded message that said they were having technical difficulties.
Could it be that they cannot cope with so many new people having joined because of the promised 4% cashback foir the first three months?
If that is the case they should stop advertising -as well as TV adverts their posters are everywhere. I have been to the West End (London) today and the walls of Bon Street tube station are plastered with ads. for this card.Born to shop;)0 -
Mine was also refused this morning (ar M&S) but I'm out of the 4% cashback period. I used my GE Money card but that is being withdrawn in November.
So, I'm looking for another card ready for Christmas.

This is substandard service - but at sub-market price (4% cashback) should you exepect any difference?
4% cash back or not - when you go out and use your card, you need assurance that there is the reliability and service you need.
If some one offers you 4% off - expect to get 4% off everything! The price, service and reliability! They must be losing money - so have to make it up else where, e.g. by providing poor service and not letting you transact against the card - and there by saving themselves money.
As fenella says (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=6548138&postcount=13) - why should they be allowed to advertise a card that they cannot support?0 -
Mine got refused in Tesco on Saturday. No back up card with me, so had to leave the stuff behind. I was spitting mad.... Phoned customer service and chewed the girl out something rotten. Demanded compensation for my wasted time..... Wonder if I will get anything????NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

I won some vouchers from e bay yesterday morning ,tried to pay by paypal with capital card, rejected,so used other one, that was ok.Didnt bother ringing up.
Last night bought a dvd on internet and worked ok,so hope no more troubles! We are near end of cash back anyway!0 -
Good to see this is happening to others as well - mine's been OK in shops using PIN but has been rejected several times on the web - started on Thurs evening - a purchase through Play.com seemed OK last night
Could be linked to Cap 1 's web site trouble earlier in week when recent transactions weren't showing for several days?0 -
Just did a transaction through Amazon about half hour ago and it worked fine for me using my Capital One card.Gordon Brown ate my hamster0

Very unlikely.
It will just be a temporary technical problem somewhere - these happen to all credit card companies from time to time and sometimes even the entire UK VISA or Mastercard system goes down - affecting cards issued by everyone..

I don't think for one moment that Cap One are losing money be offering 4% cashback. More likely to be breaking even or making a slight profit.
My 4% period is over so I will wait for the cashback and then cancel the card.
