Capital One Card Rejected

Just had my Capital One 4% Cashback Card rejected at B&Q and Morrissons (I'm not over my limit and got my PIN right). Got home to phone them but the customer service number is unobtainable and I can't get onto their website!

Is there something sinister happening or am I just being paranoid??

I suspect there may be a problem at Capital One just now. I just called to activate my card, managed that ok but tried to speak to an agent to set up a direct debit and was told they are unable to connect me to an operator. The website is down just now too, just an apology page.

  • Same here - just declined at Somerfields (Saturday morning). Mine is the 4% cashback card too. Had quite a few problems with the stupid thing being declined.
I suspect there is a wider problem this morning, as they are not answering the phones at the moment.

Once the 3 months is up, I think I'll be looking around. More trouble than it's worth, when you've no confidence a transaction will go through.
  • Spoke to them this morning - they're having techical issues which they hope to resolve later today.

I've used them for 10 year and this is 1st such problem. Two cards rejected in Sainsburys this morning.

should always keep a back up master card if you're using a visa and vice versa

Agreed, debit cards to the rescue.....don't think Sainsburys would have grassed us up to Mr Plod (tho' we did buy some porridge).
