So, aside from the Business Live section calling it "Retro", making me feel old, who here loves Angel Delight? Have you noticed the new ready made versions (I have not!) and have you tried the cheaper own brand alternatives?
On a related note, what other "Retro" foods would you like to make a comeback. The more obscure the better!
Angel Delight is making a comeback half a century after the whipped dessert first hit the shelves.
Sales of the brand jumped 30% over the six months to the end of September, according to its maker, Premier Foods, as consumers were tempted back by a new ready-to-eat version of the milky dessert, first launched in 1967 by Birds.

I've seen the ready made versions, but wouldn't buy them especially until I'd costed out their cost/value -v- making it myself... you also get a HUGE portion if you make it yourself
I do tend to buy the "own brand" versions .... butterscotch is my favourite, followed by strawberry, then chocolate.
I've always got 3-4 packets in the cupboard.
Drinking it? Interesting!
*makes note for next shop*
And yes, Butterscotch is the best, of course.

Thats what parents did when I was younger, adding like a scoop of ice cream too, and about 2010 when the supermarket own brand was as cheap as 3p made milkshakes out of that.
Obviously the way to to it is make it with more milk so it doesnt set.
Got to compare

I remember a peach flavour way back in the 80s (might have been an own brand - I recall Asda did strawberry jaffa cakes then too), and there was a similar packet mix which made slightly fizzy/bubbly mousses rather than a thick 'delight'. Here's hoping they come back if there's renewed interest.
You are not the only one redfox. I don't, and never have, liked anything made up with milk. And that includes rice pudding. There is one exception though and that's a nice steaming jug of custard!
