    That's good because when I changed a few years ago you couldn't get channel 5.
  • Thanks for all advice have decided to get sky hd box from ebay,can anyone say which one I need?..looking at a 2015 one with remote and all leads for £30...figure I don't need bells and whistles as its just for receiving.this is a business seller.

    Did you look at the Youview option?
  • I did,but as its only a receiver I want i think cheaper option better,with all the catch up i cant see me needing the record option...as you,ve prob gathered i,m not that tech minded!..currently watching tv thru chromecast with my battery draining! :o

    Get a BT Youview DTR-T2100 set top box from Ebay. They are around £50 and will do freeview including HD channels

    OP doesn't have an aerial, that's why everyone is talking about satellite boxes.

    Don't bother with this - a separate box is better - USB recording on a TV is usually very restrictive and frustrating. Just for starters, you'll probably be stuck watching what you're recording because there'll only be one tuner.
    you can get a scart to RF converter and use the aerial socket in the tv

    NO! You could have a Sky HD box for that money off Gumtree, and an HDMI picture (and sound) instead of rubbish analogue RF.

    Good decision. Any Sky HD box will do. If you're not subscribing, you'll not get the use of any extra features anyway. Gumtree might be better if you want to save on postage.
