My motorbike failed for a nut on the exhaust being missing. The tester fitted one and immediately passed it. I only found out about the fail when I checked the MOT history online. No big deal.

Same here. On of my cars failed on a blown bulb. Local garage just changed it and passed the car without asking me. Didn't even tell me when I picked the car up. Only knew when I found the fail paperwork when I got home.

I don't think I even got an mot fail for it (don't think it was even advisory), it was just altered, and passed, job done!

And what if the adjusters are seized?

My car passed its MOT with a headlight aiming downward, I have replaced the adjuster motor, it was still the same. I was baffled, turned out the previous owner had fitted the bulb incorrectly. Fixed now.
