Thanks for that - I'll do that tonight. I just had to make do with lemon curd muffins today!

    I found it!

I couldn't post a link, but I have copied and pasted it here if anyone else is interested - I thanked Twink in the original post:

If you want to thank Twink for the recipe go to post number 4 and click thanks

    Hobnob Recipe

    Ingredients

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda

    Instructions

Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.

Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

Sorry I can't get the red type off - it must be something to do with the "Twink's hobnob recipe" search keywords!

I already wash on 30 degrees and use laundry gloop. Today I realised that if I put the machine on a cold wash programme and whilst its filling pour a kettle full of hot water , warmed for free on the log burner into the draw whilst its fillilng then I could wash using no oil which is what warms the hot water. So I put a load of washing on wool cold cycle as it included a grubby wooly jumper. I wasnt expecting a success TBH but I am delighted with the result.Even DH dirty work trousers came out well, :j and in addition the wool cycle uses less electric as its only about half the time of the normal 30 degree cycle I have been using for ages.
Next time I am going to desolve the laundry gloop into a jug of hot water and add that direct to the washing in the drum and compare the results. :T:T:T

Just been looking through a catalogue selling drawer dividers. What a price! I use 2 ltr ice cream boxes for socks, undies etc. It keeps the drawer tidy!
  • Putting an old odd sock over the bottom of your can of deicer stops your hands from getting freezing cold when you're scraping the car

I haven't tried it yet but just came across this tip and thought it may be of use (hoping that it works) to others.

We always seem to get ice crystals on our ice cream, even though it may have only been open a couple of weeks.

I'm going to try this tomorrow.

To prevent ice crystals from forming on ice cream, cover the surface of the ice cream with a piece of plastic wrap or wax paper before closing the container.

I take it waxed paper is the american equivalent of greaseproof paper?

I believe the reason crystals form is because the ice cream may have melted too much and the water comes out of it as it refreezes.

Use it quickly and put it back.
