Good morning all, another sunny day, wish the clouds would open over the country for a while.

Quite funny, OH put a box in the cage yesterday, they spent ages running in and out of it, now they are demolishing it :D

Quite annoyed at Whittards, their instant teas are wonderful in this weather. Had an email from them saying 3 for 2 is ending at midnight tonight (did not give a specific date but it arrived today), went to put through an order and the code they gave did not work. Have fired off an email anyway.

    Morning all.

Feels hotter than ever this morning.

I too have fallen for the coupon trap having bought 2 Sun newspapers for the Lidl coupons. Spent over £70 saving £9 but only wanted a bottle of gin and dishwasher salt!

Its difficuit isnt it -figuring out the difference between want and need. In Home Bargains yesterday I was looking for the special fish sachets which the cats something have - they are about 60% fish, sadly still no stock. OH appeared with some hand shears - he said he wanted them for cutting back the cranesbill -for a start it would have been an impulse purchase and probably a poor quality choice bought with no research - but shears wuld be yet another bit if kit to store, clean, maintain, keep sharp ... besides which Ive already started with the big kitchen shears. And besides which OH would be complaining afterwards for days about pain in his joints. So £7 not spent and I will just get on with the cutting back as I have been.

Just reading this a bit more thoroughly, I have developed a good way of stopping impulse purchases. If it is in store I put what I want in my basket then wonder around for a while, about 90% of the time I end up returning it to where I found it.

Annoyingly Sains have sent me £4 off £20 spend. I will not be using it, I simply do not spend that much in there, and I certainly shall not be going just to do so. Most of the time I shop in Lidl and Aldi now, stops the impulse purchase, is convenient and is reasonably priced.

All my online purchases (unless extremely cheap or short stocked) I put in my basket and then give it a day or two to see if they send me a code. Obviously does not work with Amazon but with a lot of online stores it does. I will be buying some blinds in a couple of weeks, I will go round and put them in the basket in all the online stores that have the right fabric (they need to be made to measure) and see what happens.

Good question - Bella I sell giftcards as they show on Z33k and on their website, but not sure if you could use a giftcard to buy one (they do sell them in the restaurant according to the website)? Has anyone tried?

The terms make no mention of giftcards excluded- it can only be used once for £20 or more transaction, no cash equivalent.

It would be fantastic if it worked.

I am still getting through Gweggs too - we will miss our bacon sandwiches and steak bakes when they finish (and will probably need to go on a diet - we had "a few" ;)!).

    Many thanks

Has anyone managed to buy Bella I giftcards please?

We are in the final month and no nearer spending up .

    Many thanks
