Difficult isnt it, hospitals went to move people out of beds as soon as possible, even when they really are not ready and still need a lot of physical care.
If they are offering your mum care home places with big top up fees you will just need to be very firm with the social workers and tell them you just cant afford any extra , you just dont have the money. It wont help anyone putting extra financial strain on yourself.
If your brother isnt co-operating then you might have to stop consulting him and just make the decisions yourself.
We had a similar situation when my Dad went into a home. All the decisions that were made I did with my middle sister - the youngest sister had fallen out with my Dad, didnt visit him for nearly a year - shocking isnt it, we never really knew what it was about - so we just had to exclude her from everything - even the everyday organising stuff we did for him when he was in the home.Quick mum update I may not answer your quotes but you deserve an update if I can get to end without crying again
Last Monday update at home mum in now she had been there 9 weeks
Still not walking
Bro wasn't at meeting he working me and Aunty went
Mum was also there with social worker , a physio and 2 staff.
Decided mum needed to go in short stay carehome for 4 weeks not fit enough to go home still in wheelchair in home she in.
Social worker sent email to age uk lady asking if she could ring me and explain.
She rang but we decided it best if she visited .
She did Friday after work I was on my own did text bro telling him when she was visiting didn't hear back from him
Lady talked to me and I understand short stay may be longer stay or even permanent
Gave me 4 homes which catered for mums needs to try or get her back walking so she could go home
1 full but  wouldn't send Poppy there
Big top up fee one and another nearly as far away for me as one she in now .
Aunty away went Friday back tomorrow so she ringing me either today or tomorrow about meeting me to go visiting homes 2 near me but one got massive  top up fee which age woman said me and bro would have to pay its more than my weekly pay
We going visiting Tuesday after work as far as I know if aunty still being able to make it . They want mum out off home asap.
Have shown AJ the homes and we have put the same home at number one
Bro finally got in touch last night and left me in floods of tears which made our Poppy jump up next to me and she started licking my hand she my :A
Not even going into what bro said
I could easily have packed my bags and Poppy's last night and vanished without a trace. Thank goodness for DS , AJ and Cook at work .
AJ and Cook are :A
Also got another Aunty , 1 mums neighbours and mum herself doing my head in could scream I am doing my best but seems the best isn't good enough I need to do more.
Have to go now tears about to start again.

I've done loads today so I might reward myself with a trip to A.....trying to work out which one elaine is at and avoid it as she'll have scooped up all the wombles:rotfl:
Not me today. I have a family birthday tea party. We have had jacket potatoes (10p through the week for the ex special ones), salad with loads of tomatoes, cheesy coleslaw (5p last night) and black forrest gateau (betty crocker base) with loads of poached cherries in the middle and whole cherries on the top as well as scones, apple pie and other home made treats.
I am very generous to my guests. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:They are going home with tomatoes, 10p potatoes, salad and cherries.0 -

So sorry Tweets that you are going through such a tough time.
Bro been on phone again and ended up cutting me off said he was upset because I had a go at him which he deserved . Then rang mum luckily she was ok because I didn't like what bro had been saying to her.
Or should say what bro said he had said to her.
So hopefully I should sleep tonight didn't get much last night thanks to bro :mad:0 -

Hopefully this works out - is this the one thats furthest away?
AT the home my Dad was in they had included wi fi so one resident had a weekly skype with a relative who lived in Australia - possibly your mum is not ready for skype but I imagine staff set it all up for them so its worth considering
At least when they are in a carehome it lifts some of the everyday worry - I think my Dad 'engineered' some if the falls he had before he went into a home ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Good question - Bella I sell giftcards as they show on Z33k and on their website, but not sure if you could use a giftcard to buy one (they do sell them in the restaurant according to the website)? Has anyone tried?
The terms make no mention of giftcards excluded- it can only be used once for £20 or more transaction, no cash equivalent.
It would be fantastic if it worked.
I am still getting through Gweggs too - we will miss our bacon sandwiches and steak bakes when they finish (and will probably need to go on a diet - we had "a few"!).
Many thanks
