    Afternoon all.

Thought we were doing so well with the new curtains, only picked them up yesterday and today I've ironed them, Mr GK has shortened the new curtain pole and we have put them up:j:j

They were labelled as blackout and thermal in the shop, similarly on the Next website but... the light comes through them and I really don't think that the thin cotton lining is thermal:mad:

I'm flogging a dead horse if I expect the grumpy one to take them down again and they are the exact colour we want.

Think I'll have wander back to the store anyway and see what they say.

    Very busy not spending today!

Oh thats not good about your curtains :( but i know its more expense but could you get some liners?

I think I would get onto them and complain, not good.

I handed my notice in with SD at the weekend. I didn't really want to go, but almost felt I was being pushed out because I asked to be off rota on Thursdays for my sons doc appointments (they always fall on a thurs). As when they do the rotas and we are on skeleton staff the chances of swapping are non existant. Even though I had put my note up on the rota board with 7 weeks notice for this Thursday they still ignored it and put me in. When I queried it I was told when I was taken on I was to be fully flexible and that it includes Thursdays. Although I am available the other 6 days...!!!8230;!!!8230;..also in the small print on the contract even though I am suppose to be on 16 hours they can reduce your hours by 25% a week with no reason. so 12 hours - this has screwed me over with tax credits :(

You will be pestered at the till from tomorrow also with the new mobile phone sim being launched tomorrow. 4gb unlimited calls/texts £10 a month no contract, they are going to pull people in with 1000 extra points for the first month to make it free...!!!8230;!!!8230;..

Sarahskint, it's terrible how part time staff are treated! Especially when people wish to work 2 part time jobs together to make the money up.
Sorry it hasn't worked out for you especially as you seemed to enjoy it.

    Afternoon peeps.

Its appalling the way people are treated in the workplace now, firms are supposed to be family friendly but it gets totally ignored.
The last place I worked changed the rotas and I ended up with the afternoon shifts which meant I would never pick up our eldest from primary school, it would always be the child minder who also would have eldest son so really I was working for a pittance after expenses. But then they changed the shifts, knowing I had young kids so daytimes or mornings suited me best. I came home from work and wrote my notice out and then went back in and handed it in.
The world hasnt changed much in 20 years :(

Well I dithered between the Dunelm, Marks and Argos website and then I went to Sainsburys and got the singe mattress protectors from there, nice and stretchy elasticated skirt and the fit was perfect.
I also had a new single fitted sheet in storage so job all done - very satifying making up a single bed - trying to make up the king sized bed or even the double with the heavy mattress - feels like you have done ten rounds, hot, sweaty and exhausted :rotfl:

2 old mattress protectors and 3 sheets all bundled up for cloth recycling bin so a bit of downsizing done as well.

Has anyone else had an email this afternoon from CoS about the free cider cans - the same ones as we had last week?

Just wondering if this is an extended offer or are we getting a 2nd freebie? The later would be annoying as we've just come back from Sainsburys - the only place I could find them last week.

THe foraging fox ketchup vanished off my COS on Friday but then I got an email about a new offer - turned out it was a reduced ammount of cashback, not the £1.75 they were originally offering. This took an extra day to re appear on my lists ...
