Arrrgggg!!!! Why do they make booking train tickets so impossible!!
All I want to do is book an off-peak return (within one month) and not specify what trains I want to travel on. It used to let me, but now it is insisting I choose an outward train. Think I will just book them when I get there, as there seems to be no premium for booking on the day, which is most odd! (London to Southampton)

Arriva trains web site is good. When tickets arrive they only have the day of outward travel not the time on them :) no fees or postage either :) (open return too)

A cheeky question! Any elite live near the A1(M) and know if there's cheap petrol stations (e.g. supermarket petrol stations ) open on Tuesday and v. close to the motorway? I know plenty of cheap refueling places on the west side of England, but less sure of the east side.

Edit: looking for petrol anywhere between Northumbria and say Peterborough but ideally a supermarket or anywhere cheap.

Could you cross your legs (or whatever the car equivalent is) until Hatfield? Very cheap Tesco petrol station just off the roundabout.

Simple ;) Take any one of your £3 (£10) gift cards and that becomes your main card.
Then transfer every other one individually to the main card. Scan main card first, then scan donor card, scan main card again to get balance check after each one and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat.....think you get the drift.
I moved 22 cards onto 1. Of course you wouldn't want to be doing this at peak time as it's a phaff and you'll probably get refused, so pick a very quiet time of day, ask nicely and job done.
The very helpful assistant in my local offered when I told her I had won a few.

I've since e-mailed Costa HQ to praise the staff member so I do hope it gets back to her with perhaps a little reward. :)

Interesting. I tried in a few shops to have credit added to a physical gift card but they were unable to do it. I wonder if it makes a difference that you moved to an eGift card.

Thank you for the biscuit confirmations - I have sourced “a few” ;) - they make good small gifts when visiting family.

I think when I do this with red spotted hanky the time of the outbound train is a "suggested" one. Obviously it needs to be that date, and off peak.
