I'm sure you would enjoy it DM
I put a picture on FB, but looks like it upset the vegetarians/vegans so I've taken it down now.

They don't go particularly cheep ( as they are dead :rotfl: ) but they are top quality and you know which farm they come from and who reared them. The turkey I successfully bid for was slow grown, barn reared and dry plucked - worked out to about £4.75 per kilo. Although the Turkeys weights are still shouted out in lbs and bidding is for the total price of the bird.

When I was a bairn, my Dad used to go on the bus to Newcastle market to get our Christmas turkeys - but they were priced up rather than auctioned. He always came back very tipsy :o

Our local auction used to do a fresh poultry auction on last day of trading before Christmas. Loads of fresh turkeys, ducks, chicken, etc. I used to go and watch, but never bought from them. Used to make fun of the normal auction porters who had to wear white coats, plastic aprons, blue plastic shoe covers and 'shower caps'. They hated it :rotfl:

I didn't realise you were a 'bairn', whereabouts were you from? The right side of the watter I hope ;) I remember the game and pountry hanging in the market on stalls. Only one of these in that corner of Grainger Market now I think :(

I was born near where the Fish Wife Statue is in Northumberland Square, though spent early part of my childhood in Whitley Bay. My Mam was born in Wallsend, my Dad a coal miner at the Rising Sun colliery.

The auctioneer and his side kick wear white coats and walk on the tables during the auction - putting a wooden stick on the bird being bid for - lots of rustic banter - It is entertaining :)

Oh JTS, I was born in Wallsend, the terraced houses/flats running down to Swan Hunters. Mr 3Dogs was born in North Shields, on the Marden Estate. Whitley Bay has changed so much :( Used to play darts at Rising Sun Pub, lived round the corner in early 70's. Used to go to the Rising Sun Club for fairs, whippet racing. 1969 parents moved to Battle Hill and I used to walk my dog in late 70's on the nature reserve on what used to be Rising Sun Colliery

We should have guessed that there was Geordie in there, with that sense of humour ;) :rotfl:

Well - at 45p each buying single Lindt Lindors is quite expensive in Costa....but a nice cheap way of [hopefully] extending the eGift card life from 2/1/18 to 22/12/18.

Tassimo pods also expensive @ £4.59 but a good way of using a couple of wuntu codes expring today.

... That is certainly a cheaper way of extending them than £3.20 hot chocolates for the kids .
