    They charge interest for the fine, so over time it would build up. Can bailiffs not go after her property in the UK?

    yes and kidnap her kittens as well

    £250 such a nice round figure , NO interest cannot be charged on that figure , and I do not expect direct collection bailiffs showing up either ,

    Ideally I'd prefer to sort this out now rather than later, before it gets nasty. I just wanted some guidance about how to go about it

    ok the first job to get this sorted , is to inform the DVLA of correct date for change of address , do that then return

    As you seem to be worried about what a bailiff can/can't do, why not try asking on BailiffAdviceOnline?

    you cannot "sort" this , if you pay it , it will be marked as satisfied and on record for 6 yrs , your sister will struggle to do a setaside from non UK ,

    so what where you thinking of doing

    I am all ears?

    @pappa golf

    The claim amount isn't exactly £250, I just rounded. The claim letter states interest will be charged.

    I will inform the DVLA first thing tomorrow morning. After that, do I get her to fill out a set-aside and then fight the claim? Or go down the travel expense route?

    Neither, why are you doing anything except double checking that nothing can 'get nasty'? Check BailiffAdviceOnline.

    It tells me to fill in a Section 14 Statutory Declaration. Is this right?

    can a court send or accept set aside papers from outside the UK?

    even if she used a UK address , it would entail possably two trips back to the UK for court

    under data protection , her financial info (expedian etc) cannot be given to any non uk body , a ccj cannot be enforced abroad , (well it can actually, form ex725) so in a laid back voice repeat after me "why worry"
