Oh dear, I do feel for you Frogletina and hickles69, it causes so much stress and worry. My Mum also has Alzheimers and my sister and I have taken all her cards away because she kept getting telephone scammers calling and quite happily gave out all her card details - if there was a nuclear war, my mother's Sky box would definitely survive because it's insured to the hilt (PS she hasn't even got a Sky Box!!!!!!!)

Potting wise, I put £1.20 in my pot over the weekend that I found in one of my coats and some shrapnel I discovered when I was clearing out a drawer. :D

Oh bless her. I work with adults with learning disabilities and one of my guys gives his card to people to copy the details - he too had non existent sky equipment insured. Managed to get him 3 years worth of payments back; I was furious. Then I discovered loads of charities had taken advantage too. If he had family I'd suggest they did the same.

My ex kept getting callers at the door asking him to sign up to charities. He used to give them his bank book and they would take his details from there and fill in the forms, asking him to sign.

It was not easy trying to get charities to cancel these, as they say he gave permission and he didn't understand when they asked to speak to him. Now I have Power of Attorney I can cancel them myself - I spoke to him and we chose one charity to give to. He was paying 5 charities a month and over £50.

Door stop callers need more regulation. I work with adults with LD and ou would be shocked at how easy it is for them to be put in similar situations. Absolutely shockig. Your ex is lucky to have you :)

Oh bless him Hicksy! Surely he would never do such a thing. ;) I can't help my mind going back to all that time ago when someone in your In-laws former household was doing similar things; is it possible now? Well done with your latest amount potted!!! PS. Sorry to admit it Hicksy but if I’m to be honest I did wonder if it was your OH all that time ago, taking advantage of other in-laws in the house I thought. You lost your ring/s too didn’t you?! I sincerely hope it’s not him, but who! You’re right though, when you think about it you’ve not got to let it worry you too much, you’ve Jack to care for and your progressing treasure to look forward to as well!!! :A I WOULD HIDE IT WELL!!!! P.S. I’ve just read your latest post, your poor Dad! What a rotten way to have had to live, little wonder it’s affected you so much. Look after yourself Hicksy. :kisses3:

I never thought it was him because he has always said if he has borrowed money from my purse - usually a £1 here and there for coffee at work and he's mostly given it back on pay day. Also he was never left alone in the house where the original thefts happened as he was always first to leave the house and usually last back each day. This was a house with 5 adults. The suspect was also the only one in the house when a very small amount of the stolen money had been replaced. It's all confusing. Yes you're right I took off 2 rings when I was pregnant with Jack and never saw them again - the in laws concluded Magpie's had flown in and taken them. THe rings didn't cost a lot but had been bought by my OH - 1 when we first got together in 2003 and the other when I graduated in 2005 - before gold went up in value.

Bubba still cooking nicely - 3 weeks to go :)

I owe it to him. When we met I was 20 and he was 37. He adopted my first two children and we had a third together. He saw me as someone who needed taking care of, and I needed someone to care for us. I did love him, but he was like a benevolent father to me as well as the children. We stayed together until our youngest was 17, and then I moved out. But we always stayed friends.

And now, because of the age difference, many of his carers and support people assume I am his daughter.

I was with him yesterday, and he said to me 'you shouldn't marry me, I'd be no good for you', and I said, 'but I did marry you, didn't I', and he laughed.

Emptying pockets before putting jeans in the wash... £1.10, thank you very much DH! And £2 from my own pockets. All potted, obviously.

Many thanks for your concern, Sue-UU, particularly with your own worries. :o I'm still a little wobbly - more good days than bad though. I've requested an extension to my part-time working at school, which the governors have agreed to in principle and I have an appointment with an occupational health nurse next week so that everything is above board. My Head teacher is being super supportive now (she wasn't to start off with) as one of her children is going through something similar and so she's been forced to read books to understand why.
