Oh I'm sorry to read this Frogletina - some people have no morals. I still say my money thief was the one who later (the same year) stole my rings. I was devastated - only took them off because of pregnancy related swelling.

I hope you get all your money back - I'm glad your ex keeps less money at home

I'd forgotten about the rings. I was once broken into at my last house and most of my late mother's rings were stolen, amongst other things. Totally irreplaceable.

I have Power of Attorney for my ex and the building society are now asking him if £20 is enough when he goes to withdraw, and he says yes. Before it was always £50 at a time and one month he drew out £400. Now I or one of the girls top his money up at home (max £20) so he doesn't feel the need to go as often to withdraw money. This month he has only withdrawn 2 x £20 so far.

Oh dear, I do feel for you Frogletina and hickles69, it causes so much stress and worry. My Mum also has Alzheimers and my sister and I have taken all her cards away because she kept getting telephone scammers calling and quite happily gave out all her card details - if there was a nuclear war, my mother's Sky box would definitely survive because it's insured to the hilt (PS she hasn't even got a Sky Box!!!!!!!)

Potting wise, I put £1.20 in my pot over the weekend that I found in one of my coats and some shrapnel I discovered when I was clearing out a drawer. :D

My ex kept getting callers at the door asking him to sign up to charities. He used to give them his bank book and they would take his details from there and fill in the forms, asking him to sign.

It was not easy trying to get charities to cancel these, as they say he gave permission and he didn't understand when they asked to speak to him. Now I have Power of Attorney I can cancel them myself - I spoke to him and we chose one charity to give to. He was paying 5 charities a month and over £50.

  • The boyf went out on the weekend which meant we couldn’t do what we had planned to do Saturday morning as he had a hangover. On the plus side, he had £23 in change and every penny went in the jar!

A very good Monday all Potters! :hello: I hope you’ve all had the best of weekends and are now ready to fully enjoy the week ahead!!! :j
For those members who really aren’t well or who are low for whatever reason, take great care of yourselves, and here’s hoping these {{{{HUGS}}}} from us all will help you feel well soon. :kisses3:

Oh bless him Hicksy! Surely he would never do such a thing. ;) I can't help my mind going back to all that time ago when someone in your In-laws former household was doing similar things; is it possible now? Well done with your latest amount potted!!! PS. Sorry to admit it Hicksy but if I’m to be honest I did wonder if it was your OH all that time ago, taking advantage of other in-laws in the house I thought. You lost your ring/s too didn’t you?! I sincerely hope it’s not him, but who! You’re right though, when you think about it you’ve not got to let it worry you too much, you’ve Jack to care for and your progressing treasure to look forward to as well!!! :A I WOULD HIDE IT WELL!!!! P.S. I’ve just read your latest post, your poor Dad! What a rotten way to have had to live, little wonder it’s affected you so much. Look after yourself Hicksy. :kisses3:

So you’ve had similar problems too, Frogletina! How rotten of “family members” to take from vulnerable folk, especially your ex. Yes, you’ve told us about his Alzheimer’s and for a relative to steal from you both is just unthinkable!!

BTW. I’d certainly make sure she pays back all she owes!

Oh Sue! after all these years of no-one having a rock and roll whats wrong with me, I FINALLY had a positive result from an xray! still very much in the early stages of anything, but at least its something! blood tests tomorrow so hopefully they will flag something as well and i'll be on the radar!

Aha jakes-mum, it looks as though your DH’s playing you at your own game!!! Again you two really do make me giggle!!!! :rotfl:Have great fun with your new toy which I bet you’ll have a job to turn away from!!! ;)
Well done with your potted cash, it’s good to hear you’re still concentrating on that too! PS. Excellent news about your positive result, I sincerely hope now that it’s an indication of some really GOOD news!!!!! :j :kisses3:

Thanks to this challenge, and the Saving for Xmas one, in the 2 years I've been actively involved so far I've finally managed to get a tidy little sum (OK, helped by a PPI cheque as well) in my savings accounts. Thanks in part to this effort, I was able to make a sizeable (for me) donation to Children in Need last week and as a result, won a signed photo of Mr Cumberbatch in one of their charity auctions (complete with certificate of authenticity) #proudface

Oh MrsShazbat, that’s that’s the most amazing news!!!! :j:T I’ve kind of guessed just how much he means to you so I think I can imagine how truly wonderful you must have felt on receiving the news!! Congratulations on just what being a member of SPC has done for you!!!!!

A very good idea adventureofdreams!!!! After all why not! Well done and good luck with the new home saving!! :D

Ooooh brilliant work DebtFreeDuo!!!! :jI know not everything in life happens as swiftly as that sale, but.... great work!!!

A lovely sum stashed for you too 32b3!!
£8 leftover money this week potted and got my £20 ready for the week ahead.

Looks like everyone is doing a great job with their pots. Keep it up and there’s going to be some great totals next year!

....and you’re adding nicely to it all too DancingUnicorn!!! Very well saved!!! :j Great incentive for us all too! Many thanks!

Oh bless your pup, TheCatsandDogsMother! Now he’s counting down the sleeps to when the tree comes DOWN!!! :D Not quite the way it’s supposed to be but...! It sounds as though you’ve everything beautifully planned for Christmas - savings potted too, fantastic!!!

Not to worry seekingthesunlight, at least you’ve had roadkill and NSDs which always help, even if we don’t think so at the time. One way or tother you’re still saving! :D

Well spotted Vicky! Leicester might have missed out but you certainly scored!!!!! :j:T:j It’s surprising the number of ways from which we can gain, very well done! How are things going with you now? I think about you every time I see you here but don’t always like to ask. Take good care of yourself anyway! :kisses3:

It’s ONLY COPPERS charlies tribe??!! That’s what your DH seems to think but for you it’s..... treasure!!!! :j:T Fingers crossed he slips up and leaves £1 coins another time! :D I’m hoping the girls boxes turned up trumps too!

What problems the families of those who already suffer so much face, siju!!! It’s appalling more can’t or isn’t done in order to protect them!! Does your Mum not having a Sky box mean that Sky can be given the boot or is it used for other things?!
Alzheimer’s is a vicious disease/ailment for sufferers and their loved ones to have to endure! Trouble is there are always folk ready to pounce as a result too! :(Look after your loved ones - and yourselves siju and Frogletina, {{{{hugs}}}} to you all also.

Oh dear, such a shame List Maker about your BF’s hangover :( but.... what a plus side!!!!! :j Great potting!!
Have a lovely Monday, folks, and a great week! Don’t forget - pot well! :j

    Evening

    £3.20 potted today.

So sorry to hear of those of you who do not feel comfortable with having pots at home incase someone helps themselves to them. I am lucky, I could leave my pots unopened in the middle of the floor, and no one would touch them, my pot, a huge ceramic piggy bank, is not sealed and I am absolutely positive that every penny I put in there will still be there in November next year. I really feel for you though that it plays n your minds xx

    I hope everyone is well.

We also have Power of Attorney now and have cancelled any dubious direct debits. I now look after all of my mother's finances and it's made her much happier as handling money makes her quite anxious.

As far as my own money is concerned, just 40p to pop in the pot today. :)

Have a good week everyone xx

  • Potted £4.50 left over from supermarket shopping on Friday. I've been walking to work nearly every day for nearly 2 months now and just realised how much money I've been saving - around £60 per month

I'm going to pot some of the cash - least £5 per week from now on. I've also lost about 8lbs in weight too! So good all round :D
