I hope that in addition to reinstating Dunstonh, the review also explains the reason for the ban and includes an apology.

I'd just like to add that in spite of what's happened with dunstonh, I still believe the mods/forum team generally do a good job. The S&I board gets plagued with spam and suspicious new posters, and they are usually zapped pretty quickly.

I feel this issue is more about the rules than the volunteers who enforce them.

I am pretty sure that this idiotic decision was taken at a pay grade somewhat above volunteer.

Has MSE belatedly realised that the success of this forum is heavily dependent on the contributions of altruistic experts like dunstanH? If so, better late than never.

It's no exaggeration that the forum experts have been a financial life-saver for me, and the comments I have read suggest I am not alone.

I can summarise my continuing interest in this site in a single, heartfelt analogy:
"Never was so much owed by so many to so few".

MSE are you listening to us? The consensus of opinion seems clear: we need justification for this action, and the justification needs to be danged good.:(
