edinburgher said:@Suffolk_lass - ooft! I could write you a list!
Bad times/habits - while drinking, weekends (I.e. "I've earned it"), late evenings (bored)?, feeling the need to "finish" leftovers etc.
Naughty foods - large portions of carbs (family sized bag of crisps, three slices of toast), alcohol (I like a drink), meat (I think I'm a caveman), mixing naughty foods (50g of butter for those three slices of toast, a bit of mayo with that leftover chicken.... after the toast) 😊
Those built into you things like no waste are a recipe for no waist... sorry- they are things instilled in us through popular culture and from childhood - my Mum was a great one for referring to "starving children", and "no pudding until your plate is clear". The "I deserve it" culture has a lot to answer for. I could lecture on that subject...
For me, I need to remind myself what I am doing and why. I am too fat. It is a health risk. There is a pandemic and having only recently retired I do not want to be picked off by the virus because crisps were more important than my future. Bit harsh, but true. More positively, I like vegetables and feel better eating less. My knees don't hurt, my clothes are looser and I have more energy. I will carry on. Two oranges yesterday instead of one (one had a soft-spot where the skin was damaged and I had already eaten one after my soup). @Suffolk_lass - cocktails - how sophistamicated - mine's a Negroni
Yesterday I ate eggs, butter, cheese and a few slices of turkey. Weight has rapidly dropped down to 15 stones, my lowest for 18 months. A 3.4lbs change in one dayToday I'll stick with largely eggs.
Budgets trimmed and £25 of PB bought.

I'm not a particularly 'big' eater and a phrase, or even a decision making process, that has always stuck with me is "Its not worth the calories". So if a dessert is only 'ok' after first mouthful my phrase kicks in and I leave it. No idea where or how it came about but its like an ear worm now!!
Anyway your progress is fantastic, and in the hardest of months too. I'm cheering you on!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......2 -
Cocktails are usually a glass of wine or a small beer here. The main thing is to stop me unconsciously consuming - so dinner at the dining table over conversation and chewing every mouthful 100 timesSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
